I've finally found the time to update the _Web-version_ of the Mojave 3
Discography, and with that, updated the discography to v1.1 (thanks to
all of you who sent in corrections/updates/information!).

The Web-version includes a bunch of pictures, cover scans, band picture,
and 4AD press release letters.

Check out: http://www.lysator.liu.se/~chief/mojave3.html

P.S. If anyone wants the v1.1 text version by e-mail, just e-mail me and
I'll send it to you with no questions asked :-) D.S.

Hiya!! I also saw it at The Amoeba for $9.99! So for you people who
can't find it at Rasputin's then just hop on over to Amoeba. I saw 2
copies there also. Hope that helps!

No, but I finally scored my copy at Vinyl Ink. They update their catalog
weekly (by e-mail, if you request) and as soon as I saw it, I sent off an
e-mail saying I want it, and - voila! - I own it and it rules. Now if only
I could find the original 5 EP to hear the original version of In mind!!!!

I can get the 5 EP on CD for you or anybody else that wants it. Not
meaning that I have a lot of copies, but I know I can get at least
one copy of it. Especially if someone wanted to help me get Blueday
on CD. That would really be nice. Anybody?

Since everyone is looking for slowdive EP's, I figure I'd ask if anyone
knows where I could get the self-titled EP, Blueday, or Holding Our

I'm also looking for some slowdive bootlegs. I have some My Bloody
Valentine boot's I could trade in return.

keep in mind (ha ha) you'll only be getting 1 new song so don't pay too
much. it took me a long time to like the original version, and still i
think the second of the two remixes blows it away. What is it, the two
hundred and blah blah version? I can't remember but it's one of my
favorite of all songs ever created anywhere at any time in any place and
in any dimension.

For those who like the "In Mind" remixes, you might want to get a hold of
the first (and only) Reload album or the Global Communication album (Global
Comm., Reload, Jedi Knights are all the same thing). Two very beautiful
melodic (ugh .... I'll say it ...ambient) electronic works.

Global Comm. also did some kickin' remixes for Chapterhouse (see the
"Pentamoris Metamorphosis" EP).

i disagree. yes, the 'in mind reload remix (the 147 take)' is *completely*
incredible, but i think the original version (on the '5ep') is just as good.

I totally agree. I think the original is SO MUCH better than the remixes.
The remixes are just there to me actually, nothing great. The 5ep is
definitly worth whatever price you see it for. I didn't know they were hard
to get nowadays.

This is an absolutely brilliant album, possibly the best 'ambient' record I've
got... it was called 'Blood Music: Pentamerous Metamorphosis', it's about an
hour long and it was packaged with a limited set of Chapterhouse's 'Blood
Music' when that came out. I'd never heard of Global Communications back in
1993, so it was a completely fortunate buy. Much as I like Chapterhouse, the
remix knocks pieces off the original album.

Right,

I thought it was time I added to the 'In Mind' debate. I'm not to keen on
the Bandulu version but the Reload 147 mix is great.

Both, however, smell considerably when compared to the original. A work of
art mate and make no mistake.

On the subject of Reload, this piece is different to most of their work.
Most of their early stuff is much harsher. As time progresses thought all
their stuff just sounds like Global Communication (whether they're called
Reload or whatever). This remix sounds like Global Communication.

I can't remember who said this the other day (sorry whoever you are) but I
agree, their debut album 76:53 (or whatever it's called) is one of the
finest ambient works ever. Buy it.

I also agree that their remix of Chapterhouse's second album (the original
is probably the most disappointing album of all time) is bloody ace. Reload
have also done some great remixes of Aphex Twin's stuff.

Cheers,
Mark

them both listed as "in stock" for $9.99 each. E-mail them at

The remix was done by Reload, who are tom middleton and mark pritchard aka
Global Communication (among other things). This is a wonderful take of "in
mind" and is completely consistent w/ the rest of their material. Global
Communication did some remixing (o.k. reworking and discarding ;) of
Chapterhouse's _Blood Music_, entitled _Pentamerous Metamorphosis_ that
sounds *alot* like this. However, _PM_ is *very* difficult to locate, as it
seems their label Dedicated put it oop after initial pressings. There was
word that it was reissued, but I have not seen nary a one.

Slowdivers:

I hate to waste the mailing list's bandwidth, but here goes...

I remember there being a pretty big Spacemen 3 fan on the list. I really
dig Spiritualized, but now I'm trying to move on to the Sonic Boom axis.
I got the 2nd EAR album "Beyond the Pale" and found it kind of washy and
boring. I like ambient music, but this was too much knob twiddling and had
no point... Anyway, I'm considering buying some Spectrum stuff (I'm willing
to give Kember another chance). Anybody got a recommendation on what to get?
Is the new ltd. ed. EP on Reprise any good?

All of Sonics albums are pretty good. There are three, Spectrum (which was
actually released as Sonic Boom "Spectrum"), Soul Kiss (Glide Divine), and
Highs, Lows, and Heavenly Blows. I would say the third is the best. "Then
I Just Drifted Away" is one of my fav Spectrum songs. Soul Kiss is more
spacey ambient stuff, but nowhere near as much as EAR stuff. HLAHB and
Spectrum were never released in the US(if that's where you are), but Soul
Kiss was. Hmm I haven't seen the new ep, but I'm kinda out of it these days
cause I have no money.

Ooopss, well i really love that album, i consider it is exagerately cosmic
and narcotic and i love that!!

> Anyway, I'm considering buying some Spectrum stuff (I'm willing
> to give Kember another chance). Anybody got a recommendation on what to get?
> Is the new ltd. ed. EP on Reprise any good?

Well the more "poppy" are the Indian Summer ep -I'm sure you'll love this-
and the Sonic's solo album, "Spectrum". Both great!

"High, lows and Heavenly Blows" has some "poppy" gems on it - take your time-
and some ethereal pieces too -don't pass me by- but the songs "feedback" and
"then i just drifted away" -which came together- are pretty mindblowing, you
must have it!

"Soul kiss (glide divine)" are absolutely mindblowing too, you can't lose
jewels like "sweet running water", "touch the stars" "the drunk suite",
"lord i don't even know my name", etc... This album is sweetly cosmic, and
of course -as anything release by anyone into the spacemen 3 family- very
very narcotic...

Yes, yes... i'm "fucked up child of this world" which is something i have to
thank to Sonic Boom, Jason Pierce and Pete Bassman. Thanks!!!!!

Regards.
Wilder.

PS: I guess that the new ep, "Songs for Owsley" have been released only in
the UK...

for any slowdivers' interested in buying the new fsol, it's not so simple as
recommending it or dissing it. on one hand it's an agressive follow-up to the
dreamy lifeforms, but at times it tends to overmasculinize...there's a sample
that makes me think i'm listening to kmfdm, it's something about killing...but
otherwise it's a sincere return...the atmosphere is incredibly pessemistic, i'd
go so far as to say speculative as to the aftermaths of life...but for the
money lifeforms is a beautiful, and in the context of other ambient recordings,
an absolute masterpiece...if you dont have lifeforms buy that...if you want
something new, buy the "my kingdom" single, and if none of this seems to appeal
buy an everything but the girl cd and be glad someome bridged leonard cohen
with a woman's perspective (so i'm told)...i'm recommending massive attack
(any) because that's the music of life...

Using pedals might be an easy way of making music, but i personally could
care less. I enjoy listeneing to bands that use lots of pedals and effects
and that is what matters to me. Some bands are just like all effects, but
that's ok by me cause the effects sound cool. Ya know?
