in regards to slowdive vinyl, one of the used record stores here
in lincoln DOES have a copy of "souvlaki" on vinyl. i don't know how
much they are asking for it, though.

hmmm galaxie 500 are one of the only good bands in america....they are
FAB...go buy every single thing you find by them...it will be terribly
expensive though, since all of it is out of print...most of it is on
ROUGH TRADE records company...oh an example of the price...i found an old
beat up cassette of today and it was $15!!!!!!! i bought it though..hee hee
they dont sound alike if you ask me..the guitar sound and style is all off..
mojave3 is smooth and drifty....galaxie 500 is swirlie and simplistic,
with depressing guy lyrics...(yeah guy lyrics, you know...i went to her
house but she wouldnt see me, so i turned to leave, she said where ya
going but i.......good stuff, very recommended)
and i get so oblivious (galaxie 500 lyric....make sure you buy something
with oblivious on it!)

yes. I think it's Lush, Mojave 3 and Scheer. That was the line-up I got
at least from the guy at 4AD. I got advance tickets from the rep (one of
the benefits of being music director!) and I even get to interview the band.
I'm pretty stoked. That will at LaLuna in Portland on April 13th.

well...this may further depress you, but i was recently back near my
hometown in the wherehouse (yes, THAT bad record store) & me and a friend
found 2 of galaxie 500's albums on tape for $1 each. they were still new

copies are still left, but you can email me and i'll see what i can do. :)

Subject: sending my dreams to the wrong places
i had a wierd dream that might seem pertinant to the list.
i sat next to charles mingus, who was playing upright bass, a really cool funky
bassline, which if you stop to think about it i wrote a really funky jazz
bassline meriting charles mingus' namesake, well in my own
mind....regardlessly, i asked him what he liked (never specifying "music" but
it seemed to be inferred), he said he loved this british band called miranda
who used "real angels" to sing. he said he'd just learned one of their
basslines and offered toplay it. recognizing it immediately as the slowdive
song miranda (how i recognized miranda on n upright bass, i havn't a clue) i
told him, that it was the name of the song and not the name of the band...after
politely arguing the matter he became irritated. eventually he beat the hell
out of me with a huge raspberry danish and said that he'd pay large thugs to
cut my ears off, that i didnt deserve to hear music that i cant
understand...just as i was about to concede (granted, iwas right about it being
the name of the song, but the beatings were beginning to hurt...) he told me to
hide under the rug because he was about to self destruct. i hid under the rug
as he played a bit more upright, this time with a bow....in retrospect it was
reminiscent of one of the closing descriptions in eli weisel's night...he
exploded into a semi-congealed jello type substance...i ate some falafel and
woke shortly thereafter....

Gentlefolk,
This is a call/challenge to any fans of Mojave 3/Slowdive and Lush. Does anyone
know the complete live set up of my fave bands? I'm talking amps, guitar
pedals - the hole kit n' keeboodle. I would really like to know the specifics
on amp and guitars makes, what pedals or keyboards they use, and extra stuff
they carry around with them on tour.
This would make my life just a bit more complete,
Thankyou!!

Rachel ? are you listening?
Here's my q to the list. Has anyone seen the 'Love songs on the radio'
video? It's such a perfect complement to the song. Hazy and slow. I am
(slightly but not really) surprised that here in the u.s., vh1 hasn't picked
this up. I'm not wishing the commercial downward thrush of everyone's
clandestine former and present fave band, that accompanies such vile airplay,
*but* it's a shame when a song and a video go together with one another so
sweetly and no one views it.
agree or no? either way let this list (or me) know. We need to develop a

i dont have any kind of a video channel to even have the oppurtunity to have
viewed this ( what sounds like a) lovely video!!! arghhhhhh!! i wanna see
it!!!!!!!!!!
i know what you mean.. mtv will probably play it once and that will be the
end of it.. just like the time i tried to see the RIDE video "from time to
time" from the live light album thingy-stayed up one whole sunday night
wasting away to Bush, Live and other humdrum bands, only to find that they
only played it once! ( of course a few weeks before) and that was IT!!!! : (
-- has anyone heard anything about this " mercy" single yet???
i'm growing anxious!
i too sincerely hope they would pull out 'dagger', or
'here she comes' .....even "allison" could be done;
(ahh soo beautiful it would be) just acoustic guitar..piano,
ians perfect drumming, and neil and rachael harmonizing....
"....and she laughs...."
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh
a few more weeks and i will find out in person!!!!!!

I played mojave in the background of my parents dinner party last november and
