Wow! Someone remenbering this long-forgotten band! The album you
mention are great, both of them, if you cant get hold of the original,
there is a best of out, called Natural something... (?) a beginners
introduction to Talk Talk. Get it now!
If you're curious about the sound, Catherien Wheel also got great
inspiration from them, and One of the Talk Talk guys produced some of
their best songs. It's in the vein of their slower stuff, like Fripp,
Ursa Major Space Station, Eat My Dust You Insensitive F***, Heal, Girl
Stand Still etc. Mellow, dramatic stuff...
Talk Talk. Check them out!

I was looking through the archives to check, but this question wasn't
there, so...
What is the difference in tone between the Jazzmaster and Jagmaster or
any other differences (besides aesthetic)? Sorry if this question has
been asked of the list, but I was just wondering...and to relate it to
Slowdive, what guitars did they use in their setup? I know a
rickenbacker, and a Gibson ES-335 guitar/or copy were used, but what
else?

compilation, you should try out the new re-mastered editions from EMI 100
year anniversary.

The Jag is generally more trebly, I find.

Mostly the Rick (Neil) and some Teles (Rachel and Christian). They used the
white ES-335 in the early days and then you see it again in the Pygmalion
photos.

jazzmasters tend to be more midrangey, the scale length is longer. The
picups are different, as is the switching system
the jag is more smooth in tone, but tends to also have a LOT of presence.
both guitars don't have much sustain, which is good for effects, IMO
later

Well if you mean the Squire JAGMASTER, a jazzmaster/jaguar shaped guitar
body w/ 2 HUMBUCKERS and jaguar scale 24.75" neck length. These
guitars, because of their pickups are actually tonally thicker than their
older jazzmaster counterparts, which sport bright sounding single coils
and a longer 25.5" neck length. The Humbuckers on the jagmaster, I would
say, make this guitar also thicker sounding than a jaguar as well, for
these also have shielded single coil pickups.
If you meant the difference between a jaguar and jazzmaster, the jaguar
is going to sound a bit darker and less bright again because of the
shielded pickups and shorter neck scale.

Neil: Blonde and Fireglow Ricky 360s and telecasters
Christian: Strats, Telecasters
Rachel: Es-335 copy(by Aria), Fender deluxe thinline tele, gibson melody
maker
