Hey all Avalyners,
the list is now automated, and no longer moderated. This means that
all the administrative requests (subscribe, unsubscribe, info/help
etc.) is handled by the mailserver (and I get about 2 hours / day
more to spend on other things).

The next message is the new "Welcome to.." message, please save it
and read it - it contains vital information about the list.

There are also a couple of additional new things which comes with
the move - I'll post information about those during next week.

The next digest you will receive will be Volume 97, Issue #01.

hello folks! anyone out there ever hear of a band called Blueshift
Signal? I have only ever heard two tracks by them , however, these were
two very intriguing tracks! One had been an instrumental that sounded
very much like Slowdive (along the lines of Eric's Song)...I would love
to know what they have released! Are they an American band? UK? have
they split up? I actually wrote in to their PO Box earlier this year
but never got a word back! I would even be keen on just getting dubs of
their material. Hope someone out there can help me out

Please understand that the first digest will almost only contain information
about the new list(s). This is due to the fact that it contains information
about both versions of the Avalyn list (ie. the "normal" and the "Digest"
versions) - both different "Welcome to..." messages are included as well
as both "The list is now automated" messages.

I guess this is pretty normal when starting a "new" list.

The track you are after is:
Brian Eno - An Ending (Ascent) / from the Apollo LP

See the connection? Eno/Slowdive!!!

i've got their album "seven natural scenes," which came out (i believe) on
ethereal records. they also have a song or two on a (heavenly voices?),
though i haven't heard these. if i remember correctly, they are out of
boston, and, as i just found references to them on things like the boston
underground band archive, i would guess that they are still around.

soundwise, there are sort of two distinct sounds on this album:
instrumental shoe gazy stuff and songs with vocals that are more in the
direction of the ocean blue. i could see slowdive comparisons. a good
album, all around.

i remember that one of the small mailorder services was still carrying
this maybe a year ago, so you might still find it.

hope this helps. - drew

I love that band! They are on Bedazzled Records, and yes, they're
American. You can mail order their stuff at Bedazzled's web page.

ACTUALLY, they are not on Bedazzled ...... we distributed their disc
(Seven Natural Scences) for a while and they have a track on our last
compilation (Woke Up Smiling). We are out of stock on their disc and
I'm pretty sure it is out of print. They released a 3 song CDep which I
think is much better than the full length, sometime earlier this year.
They are from Providence, RI and have changed PO Boxes since SNS was
released ..... I'll try and post the new address.

Just the facts Maam.
Steve @ Bedazzled.

yeah, a live CD plus some of the rare songs like the Beach Song single on
CD would be wonderful. Count me in for one. (my cassette deck recently ate
my live at Oslo tape .. which by the way is great, especially when Rachel
says "I don't love anyone but myself" right before the music crashes in)
