None at all....so I search my mind trying to imagine what they are!
Someone on the Stina list mentioned they saw her live once, singing "My
Funny Valentine". Maybe they will be jazz standards? Who knows. I can't
imagine. Her background is really hardcore jazz, Coltrane and people in
his league. I don't know if she was ever really into rock or not. My
interest is piqued, to say the least! :-)

Two or three songs were mentioned in an article I read somewehere (POP?).
I only remember one of them right now though - "People Are Strange".

The Police arrested about 20 people, most of them where foreign,
living in Sweden. I I think that the concert where held in Broby,
north of Stockholm, and the band Vit Aggression, was on the backdrop
in Swedish TV.

The Police got some new regulations, so they have increased their
authority and power for this kind of arrestment.

You could probably find more on the net... There is a site called
Nordland (personally I do not take part - I like multiculture !)

ask me why, i really liked the "ett fall..." video, even thought it's a
more "normal" video than their former ones ;o)

They have played both "Istallet for musik forvirring" and "Dusseldorf" on
the show before. The latter of those was first played on my request,
actually (did I hear applause in the background or was it just someone who
grunted something like "do you not have better things to do in the middle
of the night?" :).

/Micke, who would probably love to hear Stina Nordenstams version of "My
funny Valentine" (because I have loved every version of it so far)

Post rock they say!!! OK, but isn't it time for you to check the new scene
out? Here is your opportunity:

on Thursday, 29th of January, the gothenburg "post rock" trio IOTA, play
the BLINDA ASNAN in malmo. they have also invited the guest-performer
Andreas J. to play percussions and some organs on the show. In a few weeks
IOTA will release their debut 7" EP on the swedish slowball label. A pretty
unique release i must ad. We hope that the single will be released just in
time for the event. You are all invited. Be there or be [].

Other slowball-releases set up for january/february is a 7" by sweish
electronicans PLUXUS, an LP by the belgian Wonder-boy WIO, a split tape
with AUTRO & GALOUCH. Info on these items will come. Slowball has also
re-released that old Push Kings 7" and we have a few copies left of the
PHLEGM/6 CENTS & NATALIE split 7". A few tape-releases are still avalible
too. Write for info.

(for those of you who remember the stockholm-krautstock plans we can tell
you that the plans just were too enthustiastic. Instead we will arrange a
release party for the IOTA 7" and the PLUXUS 7". It will take place in
stockholm, probably in february, and both bands will play live + more good
music will be served. More details will come.
warmest regards,

That's that the Poptopia website says at least. I've found a bunch of
"Yum Yum's" on the web, but no group called that from Finland. A play
(Finnish even), a US band and so on, sure. But no band from SF. Strange
that.

OK here it is:
I think the Yum Yums are from Norway, and have a record out on "Sneak-3"
called be my babylet, and a LP on Screaming Apple (Germany) called Sweet
as candy Super-melodic inspired guitar pop.

Aha - I guess that's a close enough country to be probable.
Found this one when searching for them +Norway (not Finland this time ;)):
http://www.butaman.or.jp:8000/~optrec/yumyums.html
which has a biography and a review of "Sweet as Candy" describing them
as playing "power punk-pop". And I saw them mentioned on the Hellacopters
mailing list as a band people listen to when not listening to the Hellacopters
so harder (punk) rock is probably very probable.

Anyone know if they can be contacted over the net?

Thanks Trevor!

From what I've read in the local newspaper, there will be songs by,
amongst others, Doors, Leonard Cohen and Prince. No idea which songs
though...

BTW, does anyone know anything about her 'Dynamite' books? Will they
ever be released, and if so when?

* REMINDER *
For the second year, here is the call for the Scandinavian Indie
poll! You know the drill - you can vote for your personal top 5 in
each category. Order does not matter as each vote count as one (1).
For example, if you vote for the best label and list NONS, Siesta,
Bedazzled and Uppers - they will get 1 (one) point each. If you only
list, for example, NONS - then NONS will get 1 (one) point.

* Leave a category blank if you do not want to vote in that
category at all.

* The maximum number of votes you can cast in each category
is 5.

Here are the Scandinavian Indie 1997 poll list categories:

1. * best album:
2. * best single:
3. * best Scandinavian album:
4. * best Scandinavian single:
5. * the band(s) you couldn't live without:
6. * most promising new act(s):
7. * most amazing live experience(s):
8. * most fancied indiepop personality:
9. * best music fanzine:
10. * best music magazine:
11. * best music related website:
12. * best label:
13. * best musical event:
14. * this sucked in 1997:

Just cut out the list, fill it in and e-mail it to Totte Pop at:
