Wasn't there talk of a compilation on Ceilidh with old releases by Cardigans,
Brainpool and such a while back? Or am I just having hallucinations?

Maura,
Yes, the tape has toured the States already, and when I sent it off,
it only had one more US stop before heading back to Europe and Australia.
I forget how long you were gonna be in Iceland.....if for awhile, why not
receive it there, and then you can send it back to Albert (who is
Finland). Just an idea --

I'd like to say that I think that the word "fanzine" definitely
describes the way the people at Sound Affects work - they love music,
they are interested in music, and they enjoy writing about what they
like. To call it a magazine is actually in my eyes downgrading it
to that magazine called Pop, where I don't think it is the music
they are interested in, but only money and fame.

> though he's not an all that bad writer jesper

No, not a bad writer at all, but it's what he has written that's kept
me on my toes and wondered if he has ever heard some of the music
he says is so incredibly bad and not important to anyone in the whole
world (ie. the fantastic shoegaze-type-o-music). Especially when he
includes some bands in that genre who were never even near.

Amen to that.

It definitely sounds interesting - if you do get hold of a demo, please
write a small (or big if you want) review, and let us (at least me) know
where to get hold of a copy.

And this sounds even more interesting! Juliana Hatfield is one of my
favourites from the US part of the world, and I do like Lemonator.
Any chance you could write more about them? Anything released? Any
demos? An address?

On what label will it be released? And do you know of a definite release

much appreciated!

Hi!

The Enter's first CD (name to be announced) should be out at the end of this
year or at the beginning of 1997. The mixings have been done (at-last!!!) and
we are now working on the cover lay-out. Should be interesting ....

Meanwhile, we are going to play at least to gigs.
1. 29.11.1996 Joensuu, RocKlub Kerubi, Otra Grows Old Party #36
2. 06.12.1996 Kuopio, Hotel Atlas, Happy Independence Day, Finland (not)

To those of you who are going to the gig in Stockholm don't worry yet.
The Cure was supposed to play in Copenhagen tonight, but their
trucks/busses are stuck somewhere at the border to Denmark, because the
Danish truckdrivers are blocking all borders :-(
Perhaps they'll make it to Stockholm by Saturday, if they do could somebody
please tell me what I missed.

west coast!

I guess all these bands are very young, or consist of young people? I was
told the guys in Mess are 16 and the girls about 18 - there are two guys and
three girls, right?

Yes! Send me everything!! The sooner I get some cool new stuff together, the
sooner there will be the next Finnish chain taking place.

Subject: Estonian Indie Tape

Oh by the way, I received the Estonian Indie tape today, and I'll have
it in the mail for Petter Tiilikainen tomorrow (friday) - I just can't
believe that it took the tape _2 MONTHS_ to go from Robert Cumming to me!
There are only three people between him and me on the list, which means
that the tape stayed just about 2 1/2 weeks on each place (average)!

These chains _must_ go quicker than that folks. As there are 13 people
left on the chain, I don't think the last person would like to wait
another 9-10 months before he receives it. That's how long it would take
if all of us left on the list would keep the tape for 2 1/2 weeks...

Enough about that - Loved the tape! And I _KNOW_ I have heard The Chance
before - and I'm certain that it was on a CD too, and I'm also certain
that it was the last song on the CD as well. Are you positive they are
from Estonia?

Terrible news! I just called EMA Telstar here in Sweden and they said that
they were loading all their stuff onto ferries and planes tonight (I guess
in Germany), and would play in Stockholm on saturday as planned! Phew!

Hi there

Blue Funky is located in the corner Master Samuelsgatan/Malmskillnadsgatan.
Subway station "Hotorget" or "T-Centralen"

It's a great place where different small unknown bands play 3 days a week.

Have fun

Yes, i'm not completely sure, but toothpik should at least have one.
And they are really good at what they do.

Snail have made a really good demo, called d-mo. Unfortunantly they only
made a few copies of it. The new stuff that will appear on the cd i haven't
heard but they say it's good. The cd will officially be released in June97
but, as the cd is ready in jan-feb sometime, we will already be selling it,
and i can contact you then.

I don't think any label has anything to do with it, as music organisation
Queen Bee is sponsorig with the money, in which i am in the board of directory.

brother stuart. And were going to over take the rest of scandinavia in the

I've already sent it, unfortunately it wont arrive at the next location
before monday...

Yeah, the chance is great, and oak too! (i havent listened to
the b-side very carefully yet though). Seems like there's a lot of
dream pop:ish bands in Estonia though.

...or maybe it's just the fact that that's the kind of sound i get
into and therefore chose the bands to suit my tastes...

Subject: Swedish Indie tape (and also Icelandic one)

I got the tape, copied it, and am sending it off to Alexander tomorrow,
probably. I have really fallen for several of the bands on here. Big favs
(that I hadn't heard yet) are Fidget (something about the singer really
reminds me of Bjork circa the Sugarcubes), Cloudberry Jam, Blissful, and
Honey is Cool. The HiC song in particular is pretty much stuck in my
brain, on autorepeat. What releases have they got out?

It occurs to me I never did give my thoughts on the Icy Icy tape. I'd
heard most of the stuff, including Unun and Kolrassa Krokidandi, two of
the best bands out there. I hadn't heard much Texas Jesus, tho. God, they
sound *so* much like this Baltimore band called Porn Flakes. Just a total
psychotic blend of musical styles: polka, pop, jazz, strange marching
music, bizarre organ music that sounds like a demented Casio come
to life....Porn Flakes does all that too, or did, rather, they've now
broken up. :-( Is that new Texas Jesus CD out yet??

Oh, btw.....the Swedish indie tape arrived slightly broken. It plays, but
a bit of plastic has broken off at the bottom, and this may be what causes
me to have trouble rewinding it. It probably should have been mailed in a
plastic case, that would have protected it. I think when I mail it back
out, I'll put it in one.
