(pariahFAT) Let's start with the basic stuff. For those that might not know, 
            say who you are, current position in the ascii scene, etc.. 
(nMANCEr) Hi. 
(nMANCEr) I'm Mark, aka Necromancer.

(nMANCEr) Along with founder of Remorse Ascii.

(nMANCEr) And Coordinator of ACiD Ascii, which is Remorse. 
(nMANCEr) So it's the same thing! 
(nMANCEr) WHOA! 
(pariahFAT) That's always confused me.. 
(nMANCEr) hahahaha 
(nMANCEr) Yeah, me too. ;) 
(nMANCEr) But hey, I'm smooth like ice, so I just let it flow. 
(pariahFAT) hehe

(pariahFAT) Anyway, what would you say is the hardest thing that comes with 
            coordinating a successful group such as Remorse? 
(nMANCEr) Motivation. 
(nMANCEr) Plain and simple. 
(nMANCEr) Skill can be attained, but motivation comes from within, or from a 
          complete lack of a life. 
(pariahFAT) true.. 
(nMANCEr) So .. if you have no motivation to draw, then you don't. But if you 
          suck at drawing, and you keep drawing more, you'll eventually get 
          better. 
(pariahFAT) Talking about getting better.. how did you start out in the ascii 
            scene? 
(nMANCEr) As pure shit. 
(nMANCEr) hah! 
(nMANCEr) The ascii scene? I dunno.. I started by fucking around with ascii 
          back around 1990. 
(nMANCEr) I don't remember what caused me to do it.. but I did it. ;) 
(nMANCEr) And I stopped for a while, because I didn't feel I was getting 
          anywhere, so I picked up TombStone Artist and started drawing 
          RIPScript art. 
(nMANCEr) But as for RIP art, I stopped that shit, because I didn't have a 
          place to release it.. and took up ascii again. 
(pariahFAT) How was the scene back then? Most people were playing with their 
              Nintendos back then. 
(nMANCEr) I liked that shit. 
(nMANCEr) Nah.. most younger people were playing with their NES's.. 
(nMANCEr) The older folk like Sharp, Midnight Sorrow, The Toyman, CyberKid.. 
          they all ran BBSs. 
(nMANCEr) (The Dark Society, Infinite Darkness, Elusive Dream, 2112, etc) 
(pariahFAT) ahh.. 
(pariahFAT) I've heard a lot about The Dark Society 
(pariahFAT) Anyway, you told me this awhile ago but for those that don't know 
            how did you meet up with RaD Man? 
(nMANCEr) How did I meet the RaD Mango? 
(nMANCEr) Jeez, um. 
(nMANCEr) The first time I'd even heard from his was.. 
(nMANCEr) Fuck. 
(nMANCEr) Oh yeah! 
(pariahFAT) hehe.. Necrom's getting senile 
(nMANCEr) Back in '93 or so, he emailed me on The Dark Society because he 
          thought I was The Necromancer that was in iCE. 
(nMANCEr) I told him he was a 'fucking fruitcake' and to 'kindly piss off'. 
(nMANCEr) And we hit it off from there. 
(nMANCEr) :) 
(pariahFAT) haha 
Editors note - for about 10 minutes we discussed the #ascii takeover and 
               74-why.txt and sar-74.txt. 
(pariahFAT) Anyway, can we get back to the interview? 
(nMANCEr) Of course. 
(nMANCEr) :) 
(pariahFAT) After you first met rad man on the dark society how long did it take 
            for you to convince him to start acid!ascii? 
(nMANCEr) Oh, it wasn't me that convinced him. 
(pariahFAT) Oh.. who was it? 
(nMANCEr) Christopher Robin.. 
(nMANCEr) See, hold up a minute. 
(nMANCEr) When I founded Remorse with Necronite in 1994, 
(nMANCEr) we wanted it to be a standalone ascii group. 
(nMANCEr) Which it was.. 
(nMANCEr) Then after we gained some ACiD artists such as Beastie, Terminator2, 
          and Lord Jazz, 
(nMANCEr) we came up with the idea of trying to get Raddo to let it be the 
          ascii division. 
(nMANCEr) At that time, RaD Man felt that ascii had no place in the ACiD packs, 
          and declined our offer. 
(nMANCEr) But a couple of months after Remorse died in May of 1995, Christopher 
          Robin (An ex-Remorse member) convinced RaD Man to let it happen. 
(pariahFAT) ahhh.. 
(nMANCEr) When I came back to the scene with Remorse dead, Trank alive and 
          ACiD Ascii alive, 
(nMANCEr) (In 1996, around February) 
(nMANCEr) Rad Man asked me to run the ascii division because Christopher Robin 
          had given it to kHz, who wasn't doing jack shit. 
(nMANCEr) So, I thought about it, 
(nMANCEr) and in June or 1996 (around there, maybe a couple months before) I 
          started running the ascii division. 
(pariahFAT) okay.. I get it now 
(pariahFAT) And then Asciid kept going until january when you merged with 
            Trank, right? 
(nMANCEr) Actually.. in late October, Whod and I started talking about Trank 
          dying. 
(nMANCEr) Then in November, we merged Trank and ACiD Ascii together, and put 
          out RMRS-21.ZIP in December of '96. 
(nMANCEr) We decided that RMRS-21.ZIP was not elite, so we recalled it, and 
          put it out again as RMRS-06.ZIP. ;) 
(pariahFAT) I remember now.. 
(nMANCEr) Yar. 
(pariahFAT) btw, why was Trank dying? I remember Whod giving it to anyone who 
            wanted it (including myself, for about 24 hours) in #ansi 
(nMANCEr) It was dying for the same reason that ACiD no longer has an ansi 
          division -- lack of motivation. 
(pariahFAT) Oh.. 
(pariahFAT) That brings us up to now.. Asciid/Remorse/Trank combined have the 
            most experience in the ascii scene. If you had to name one person 
            who's helped you out the most through it all who would that be? 
(nMANCEr) Through it ALL? 
(nMANCEr) Shit dude. 
(nMANCEr) Initially, Necronite, of course. He founded that shit with me. 
(nMANCEr) But overall.. Whodini. Hands down. 
(nMANCEr) I mean.. I tend to do it all on my own, but he always wanted to help 
          out. Most of the time, I just took all of the responsibility on myself(pariahFAT) Talking about responsibility, who's the new senior staffer in 
            Remorse? 
(nMANCEr) There are a few. 
(nMANCEr) heh 
(nMANCEr) The Upright Man and Megga Hertz is back for the SS. 
(nMANCEr) TUM showed a lot of interest in recruiting and whatnot. 
(nMANCEr) And mHz just wants to regulate. 
(nMANCEr) :) 
(pariahFAT) hehe 
(pariahFAT) What happened to the infamous Megga Hertz? I thought he was dead. 
(nMANCEr) He took a break. 
(nMANCEr) I asked him about that... and he responded: 
(nMANCEr) "I was around." 
(pariahFAT) heh 
(nMANCEr) Speaking of which, why are all you guys up so early? 
(nMANCEr) It's like .. 7:40AM. 
(pariahFAT) It's 10am here.. 
(nMANCEr) Oh. That's right. Silly me. 
(pariahFAT) Since maintaining a successful group requires a certain amount of 
            envisioning what do you think is going to happen in the next year 
            or so in the ascii scene? 
(nMANCEr) Well. Let's see. 
(nMANCEr) I feel that there will be fewer familiar faces in #ascii.. 
(nMANCEr) and .. 
(nMANCEr) that there will be fewer "big name" groups out there. Mainly small 
          start-up local groups. 
(nMANCEr) Essentially, the ascii scene is winding down. 
(nMANCEr) Our world is becoming less and less populated and etertaining. 
(nMANCEr) So it will eventually die. 
(pariahFAT) Eek.. that's not a good thing 
(pariahFAT) but the local group thing is already a trend in the ansi scene 
            (Root, Glue, Maestro's group, etc..) 
(nMANCEr) Maestro's running a group now? 
(pariahFAT) Yeah.. with Toons Xillion. They quit twilight to start it 
(nMANCEr) Gay. Remind me to beat Maestro when I see him next. 
(pariahFAT) hehe 
(pariahFAT) What's your opinion towards the other competitive groups currently 
            around? (Homo, Kwest, Odelay, Spies, etc..) 
(nMANCEr) I don't pay attention to them. If I did, I wouldn't get anything 
          done. *shrug* 
(nMANCEr) Even Homo. 
(nMANCEr) And I've never even heard of Spies. 
(pariahFAT) hehe 
(nMANCEr) The only competition I ever payed attention to was KTS back in '94 

(nMANCEr) I don't normally download packs.. 
(nMANCEr) I can barely find the time to get myself on IRC and try to motivate 
          Remorse members, so paying attention to the competition is just.. not 
          going to happen. ;) 
(pariahFAT) Okay, closing things up now.. any last things you'd like to say or 
            people you'd like to greet?

(nMANCEr) If you're just starting ascii, keep practicing. You'll get better.
