: :
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
: :
: Whats in obs-eve2.zip? 23th August 2000 :
: ---------------------- :
: :
: obs-eve2.txt Guide to EvekII (This File) :
: obs-eve2.nfo Brief Info :
: evekII.exe EvekII - V64jr Save Manager :
: :
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
: :
: EvekII - V64jr Save Manager. :
: ---------------------------- :
: :
: EvekII is the 2nd public release build of Evek, the best V64jr Save :
: Management Tool. Accept no cheap imitation tool, only use the best. :
: :
: EvekII supports every N64 save type to date! 4Kbit EEPROM, 16Kbit :
: EEPROM, 32KBytes SRAM, 32kbytes Controller Pak, and "Emulated" 1Mbit :
: FLASH! :
: :
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
: :
: How do I use EvekII? :
: -------------------- :
: :
: If your using Elim with your V64jr at the moment, then you'll have no :
: trouble with EvekII. EvekII is built on the 'Elim engine' by Refried, :
: so it should work with all the same OS types as Elim does. For more :
: information on this, consult the Elim information files in the :
: obs-elim.zip file available from our website. Also note you can now use :
: the "software" EPP 1.9 Emulation mode with EvekII. If you don't use :
: Elim at the moment, I suggest you upgrade to Elim, and use the best :
: V64jr transfer tool ever. :
: :
: EvekII is best controlled from the command line prompt, however you :
: could setup Window's shortcuts to send and receive saves at the double :
: click of your mouse, provided you know how to use Windows, I'm not here :
: to explain how to do that. :
: :
: At the prompt type: :
: :
: evekII <filename> [action] [type] [mode] :
: :
: There are two different actions. :
: :
: -s = this action will receive a save file from the N64 :
: and write it to the PC. :
: -l = this action will send the selected save file from :
: the PC to the N64. :
: :
: There are five different save types. :
: :
: -e04 = 4Kbit EEPROM :
: -e16 = 16Kbit EEPROM :
: -s32 = 32KBytes SRAM :
: -f01 = 1Mbit FLASH :
: -c32 = 32KBytes Controller Pak :
: :
: Finally there is one user selectable send mode. :
: :
: --software = Forces EvekII to send using Software emulation :
: of the EPP handshaking protocol. This is useful :
: if it is not possible to use an EPP 1.9 lpt port :
: or you are having trouble sending and receiving :
: save files. :
: :
: If the mode option is left blank, the the port will be assumed to be :
: EPP 1.9 (just like Elim). :
: :
: Example Command Lines: :
: :
: evekII game.sav -l -e16 :
: :
: The above command will load the 16Kbit EEPROM save named game.sav :
: to the console. :
: :
: evekII game.sav -s -f01 :
: :
: The above command will save the 1Mbit FLASH save named game.sav :
: from the console. The -f01 command can be used to send and :
: receive 128KBytes of data from SRAM also, if a FLASH chip is not :
: found, SRAM will be used instead. This will work with games that :
: usually use FLASH, but have been modified to save to to SRAM :
: instead. :
: :
: evekII game.sav -l -c32 :
: :
: The above command will load the 32KBytes Controller Pak save :
: named game.sav to the console's Controller Pak in controller One. :
: :
: Everything else is straight forward, just make sure you read the prompts :
: that evekII.exe gives, and read what the display on your tv says also. :
: :
: 4Kbit EEPROM from the Z64 are compatible with the V64jr and EvekII, :
: using the -l e04 function. Also 64Kbyte SRAM (even though they are :
: really only 32KBytes) saves from the Z64 are compatible, using -l s32. :
: DexDrive controller pak saves are also compatible with EvekII. To use :
: them just call the -l c32 function. :
: :
: Also, you must of course have the actual hardware to store the save. :
: :
: Example bootcarts: :
: :
: For 4Kbit EEPROM use Mario 64, or similar, or a DX256. :
: For 16Kbit EEPROM use Star Wars: Episode One. Pod Racer, or similar. :
: For 32KBytes SRAM use WCW Revenge, or similar, or a DS1. :
: For 1Mbit FLASH use Command & Conquer or similar. :
: :
: Once the save has been sent or received, EvekII will wait for a ROM to :
: be sent to the N64. Once the ROM has been sent, EvekII will reset your :
: N64 so you can begin playing. To use EvekII you should have a :
: CIC-NUS-6102 bootcart for NTSC N64's or a CIC-NUS-7101 for PAL N64's. :
: If the ROM sent while EvekII is waiting to restart is CIC-NUS-6102, :
: CIC-NUS-6101, CIC-NUS-6103, CIC-NUS-6106, CIC-NUS-7101, CIC-NUS-7103, :
: or CIC-NUS-7106, EvekII will boot the rom for you! EvekII will also :
: by-passes region protection, so you no longer have to fix roms that have :
: region lockouts, EvekII will take care of it for you. There is no need :
: for additional cracks or boot-emulators with the specifed CIC chips! :
: :
: If someone would like to create a website where backup users could post :
: saves, I think it would be a worthy addition to the scene. I would do it :
: myself, but I dont have the time. This is the second time I've suggested :
: such a site, how about someone actually puts some effort into the scene :
: - help keep the N64 alive! Just because there is a lack of releases, :
: doesn't mean the scene has to die, if people contribute, then the scene :
: will continue! :
: :
: Note: Loading FLASH saves to FLASH carts is currently unsupported. This :
: feature has been removed for reasons of compatibility. It will be :
: delayed until these issues can be addressed. However the -l -f01 :
: command will load 1Mbit FLASH the save into SRAM (DS1 Required). :
: This will work with games which have been modified to save to SRAM :
: instead of FLASH. Expect this feature to be fully working in an :
: updated release of EvekII. Saving FLASH saves from the console :
: will still work. Any other suggestions are welcome. :
: :
: Look out for more Obsidian projects in the future... :
: :
: All bug reports to wt_riker@startrekmail.com Perhaps this time there :
: might be some feedback? :
