SFIX [Smartfix] v0.0.5 (BETA)
Oo
) -- "Don't be stupid!"
o
_____________________________________________________________________________

This BETA util should (hopefully) correct your image to its rightful
MBit. Remember, it's only BETA so don't go burning everything to CD
that the Smartsize Technology creates without testing it first!
_____________________________________________________________________________
It was created because of the following reasons:

The constant nagging question of:

"how big is <fill in the blank>?"

AND..

These .ips size patches that I've noticed going around lately.
How lame can you get?

Hopefully, this will make some people feel better about why they
think the N64 sucks.. Some images are pitiful. Wheel of Fortune,
for instance, is 32 MBit. Yes, 32! (it's really a little less, but
even number MBits give TPC a boner..)

INSTRUCTIONS:

**> Wherever you locate SFIX.EXE (a directory in your PATH is nice)..make
sure you have SFIX.DAT in that same directory! ;)

** IMPORTANT: DO NOT MANUALLY EDIT SFIX.DAT **

Simply run: SFIX <filename>

Ex: C:\r0mz!>sfix lambo64.us

It won't destroy your original image.. it creates a file called
"<filename>.NEW" which is what it thinks the final product
should be.

SFIX will first check the .DAT file to see if there is a preset
for the image you are trying to size. If it doesn't exist,
Smartsize Technology will be used. All images are then assumed
at least 25MBit. Extremely low sized images should be checked to
determine if SFIX.DAT should be updated.. (Smartsize failure) :()

If you are confident with SFIX, then you can use the "r" option
from the start.

Ex: C:\r0mz!>sfix r lambo64.us

This will resize the image, and replace your original with it.

** Most people can stop here. It basically works. **

For the interested,

if an image is not so nice, and doesn't want to size properly,
create a preset! just use the command line option
"i" in front of the image name..

Ex: C:\r0mz!>sfix i madden64.us

Now you will have a chance to let SFIX know the amount you want
that particular image sized to.

This information (HEADER/MBit size) is then stored in the
SFIX.DAT file, if you changed your header information from the
original image, then your beat!.. too bad..

*** Hopefully, the .DAT file will be maintained by someone if the
SmartSize Technology can't handle future images... then you can
just download the latest SFIX.DAT file from dextrose, etc, etc..

Any takers for the job?

NOTE: Don't try it with .IPS patched trainers, unpredictable results
may occur! Only run SFIX with virgin images.

Have fun...

If you find a bug, or wish to notify me of an SFIX.DAT update
for a particular image.. email it to: bl00dfest@hotmail.com

P.S. I wrote this util for myself, so if it doesn't work for you -- don't
bitch to me about it .. I don't care.. it works for me..
