Z64 PATCH FILE VERSION 1.2 [NTSC] 23.01.99

History:
23.01.99 Smash Brothers JAP crack added
11.01.99 FIRST RELEASE

SAVE THE Z64 PATCH FILE (Z64PATCH.DAT) TO EACH DISK
WITH A GAME NEEDS A CRACK/FIX.

This is how Z64PATCH.DAT(external patch file) works:

In fact, Z64PATCH.DAT is a ZIP file. You can use PKZIP/PKUNZIP to
access it. It contains many files, they are header file(*.HDR) and
patch file(*.IPS).

Each game needs to crack should have a header file and a patch file,
and the base file names are the same. ex: MARIO.HDR/MARIO.IPS. The
header file is the first 64 bytes on the game image, and the patch
file is the IPS file for V64 format. Note most patch file on the
Internet is for V64 format, you don't need to convert it in most
cases.

After Z64 loading a game, it will read Z64PATCH.DAT. Z64 will check
every header file in Z64PATCH.DAT and if Z64 find the data in the
header file and the first 64 bytes of the game image file is the same,
Z64 will read the corresponding patch file and patch the game image
in Z64 DRAM.

If Z64 uses the patch file in Z64PATCH.DAT, Z64 will not use patch
file in internal Z64BIOS(internal patch file). Z64 only uses internal
patch file when Z64 can't find patch file in Z64PATCH.DAT.

Thank you! I've corrected the date in the article. However, some websites list January 1980 as the date of death.
