The ARK compiler of HarmonyOS
Huawei knows that in order to be successful in the market, has to create an eco-system around HarmonyOS, the new Operating System.
There will be no future for HarmonyOS if developers do not create Apps for it.
Therefore, at the beginning of September 2019, Huawei released the framework for his ARK compiler, meant to allow developers to quickly port their Android Apps to HarmonyOS. The ARK compiler is the Huawei's strategy to quickly bridge the gap of App availability.
But, some pioneering Chinese developers report that the ARK compiler seems to be not yet completed.
Max Zhou, co-founder of MetaApp, said: "Maybe they're doing it to help in the PR and trade war, adding leverage against the US".
On the website www.zhihu.com/question/343846120 one programmer wrote: "The advertisement says it's a Michelin 3-star. But when it's served, it turns out to be a pack of Tingyi cup noodles and it doesn't even come with hot water. Do you think it has met expectations?".
Here www.zhihu.com/question/343846120/answer/817171395 we can read from Xing Yin: "Not only can’t the Ark Compiler compile all the standard benchmark samples, it can’t even compile ITS OWN demo sample!".
It seems that at the moment the compiler can compile to assembly language, but can't go any further than that. It can't generate an executable file.
The source code has not yet been released. This makes hard identify where the problem is.
