Hello! Welcome back to another issue of PHRuWT! In this article I am going
to try and explain to you exactly what a PBX is, and how you can manipulate
it for your own use.
Ok, let's begin. PBX stands for Private Branch eXchange. Big corporations
pay for the service it provides, which is a way for them to save money on LD
calls. They pay a flat rate for its use, instead of normal LD charging. Now,
here's how that works. Big Co. pays Ma Bell their flat dollar amount every
month. This means that their employees get use of a PBX. When they call it,
they get either a pause and place to enter a code, or an automated message
giving instructions to enter a code. When they enter the code, they get an
outside dialtone, and unlimited use of this for $XX.XX a month. If you do not
know what this means to you, then delete this file and throw your computer
away. Better yet, donate it to PHRuWT. Of course, what this means is...Whoever
has the code can use the line! Don't forget, unlimted use of this service, not
to who pays the $$$, but to whoever has the code. So what If you do though?
What good does it do me? There are two main things. One is the obvious. You
can make calls to anywhere. Rig your modem up to enter everything, and call
that |<-r4d 3l33t b0rd you couldn't call before 'cause your mom will get
pissed. Or something else...Why can't you hack from your house ( if you're
smart ) ? Because you'll get caught! How? You'll get traced! But how easy is
it to trace a call coming through one or more PBX's? Not very in comparison.
They would have to have some damn nice equipment. And since techniques like
blueboxing are dead, this is the choice for you. It is almost like beigeboxing
from your own house. So what though? You don't know these numbers! Not yet at
least..
How to find a PBX: You should really get a utility like Wardialer...however,
unless you want to sit there and listen ( which kind defeats the purpose of
scanning ) you probably wont find any. They will just show up like your
average NO CARRIER ( try again, dude ). So I really recomend getting a
utility that specifically scans for PBX's. There are very few that do this,
and do it efficiently, but if you can find one it will be well worth it. I
know that some can be found on the PHRuWT tree ( the kewlest BBS anywhere ).
Ok, now you've got your scanner. So your scanning...Try 800-221 and 800-345.
Those are just a couple commons that I can remember. So you found one? Good
work! You are halfway there. Now you need the code...hehehe...
Getting the code:
There are several hacking utils that work PBX's rather well, but I recomend
THIEF.COM (DOS)...All of my PBX attempts have been fairly succesfull with
it, and it is fully configurable. Otherwise, you'll have to do everything by
hand. Fun! Here's what to do ( BTW: You need to do this first anyway to
configure your hacker ). Call it up voice. when you need to enter the code,
keep pressing one button over and over ( slowly! ). Now, when it tells you
the code is invalid or hangs up on you or whatever, count how many times you
pressed the button. Voila! You know have the code length! Congratulations!
You are very close. Now, if you have a hacking util, configure it and set it
to work. If not, you know what to do. Either write a script or something for
your modem so that it will dial in a sequence ( essentially write the hacker
yourself ), or once again, do it by hand. Ouch!
So now you've got the code: Pat yourself on the back! You've just done
something pretty kewl. Now do something better. Use that PBX to hack that
|<-r4d b0rd you were gonna call, 'cause it looks so weak. And have fun with
your new found skill.
