THE PERMANENT BOX:
REDBOXING GONE TO DAMN FAR

BY FILBERT
_____________________________________

---------------------------------------------------------------------

HELLO...Ok, i got this idea the other day while i was doing some research
about Redboxing and shit like that. I decided that having to biuld a red box
is too much of a pain in the ass..i mean $30 for a dialer pad is way to much
$$$ to just make a quater sound...So this is what i propose we do:

The Permanent Box:

Quoted from another zine...(good background on my idea)
There are many security measures built into every payphone. One of
which you may know is called "The Ground Check". There are a lot of rumors
being spread about this form of security. Here is the plain and simple fact.
The operator initiates a ground check every time it asks for money. Here is
how it works:

1) You dial the long distance number.

2) The operator (Human or computer) comes on and tells you how
much to deposit.

3) You deposit your hard earned money into the phone.

4) When the first coin is deposited it goes through various size
checking, security measures and drops into a temporary holding
chamber.

5) The coin makes contact, metal to metal, inside this temporary
holding chamber.

6) After the total charge is deposited, the operator proceeds to
initiate a "ground check".

7) Electricity is sent down the ground wire (Black wire for all
you green boxers) to the phone, completing a circut between
the phone's ground wire and the phone, via the nickel sitting
inside the temorary chamber. (In the fifties if a fuse blew
in your house and you didn't have any
extras, you would jam a penny in where the fuse went. It
worked. But a lot of people burned their houses down during a
voltage spike. The payphones "security" ground checking method
works off this same concept)

8) If the ground is made you are connected to whomever you
called. If not, then the operator says something is wrong and
refunds your money and you go through the same thing all over
again."

------------------- Well now heres my idea... -----------------------

1) If you know that the phone has a ground, there is a simple way
around it that would insure you free fone calls from that fone
PERMANTLY...Just go to Radio Shack and buy a Soildering Iron that
plugs into your car lighter. See if you cant find something to
make the cord longer with while your there.

2) Now get some soilder...and get A LOT of it, cause you'll need it.

3) Drive to the site of the pay fone. It should probably be late at
night when you do this, because it will look extremly suspicious
when you walk up to the pay phone with a soldering iron and start
soldering stuff to it..:)

4) Plug in the iron. If you have to drive up on the curb next to the
fone if your iron wont reach. If its late I'm sure the store
people wont care too much.

5) Take the soilder and drip it into the coin slot. Stuff it as far
down in as you can. DO NOT let it fill over and close the gap
for a coin to go in. If your quick, you can stuff a penny or
something it it might catch in the simi harding solder. If the
soilder is far enough into the fone, it should complete the
ground and let you make free calls...

6) If you dont wanna take the chance with the penny, just keep
filling till you're sure that you've filled deep in the phone
full of molten lead or what ever that stuff is. Now this should
also work to remove the need for a coin and complete the circut
of the ground and eliminate the need for coins to be used in the
phone.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I really don't know if this will work yet as i have not tried it, though we are planning to go and do it in the next few days...

Good luck and remember, THIS IS FOR INFORMATION PURPOSE ONLY, YOU REALLY SHOULDNT PHUCK WITH PAY PHONES, IT ISN'T NICE...:)
