This mag is made BY the Belgian scene FOR the Belgian scene. It is a
stand alone project, not linked to any group. I, ByteMare, am only compiling
it and writing the edito. ANYBODY interested in writing ANY of the other stuff
in the mag, or contributing to it in any other way, is free to do so. Of
course the groups/dudes contributing to the mag will be mentioned in
'grandeur'. I only reserve the right of refusing certain articles due their
contents to myself.

I released the first issue 25/06/95 at 12:30 and at 18:00 I already had a
user reacting. And till now I am getting reactions from all over Belgium,
even from Luxemburg and Germany. Pffff, this more or less sounds like 99% of
the mags that have a 2nd issue :-)).
There were some positive reactions (I love that, great for my ego), some
positive critiscism (I love that too, great for the quality of the mag) and
some negative critiscism (I hate that, only good for the ego of the critic).
Thanks to these reactions, I was able to add several groups to the list. I
also have a lot of articles from guest writers. Some of them are really good
and/or funny. And last but not least, I got loads of offers from dudes/groups
who want to code something to put the mag in. Read the disclaimer if you want my
reaction on that.
Sleeping Dog/The Natives upped me a nice reply in which he ripped BSR to
shreads, his conclusion was that I'd better stop this thing and write articles
for a real magazine. Guess I don't. But he also gave me a list of groups I did
not mention in my list. Since some of the groups were not known to me, I called
his board for some more info. Once in the chat with him, he did not want me to
publish his reply, since it was badly written (in a lack of time) and because
some of the contents is injust. When I asked him why he wrote a reply that was
never to be read, he did not answer my question. Anyway, he promised me the
info, so I thank him for that. Too bad about that reply, though, it was fun to
read.
But because of all these reactions, I also realised what a huge responsability
a mag is and how dificult it is to be objective. I did not have any acceptable
complaints about that, exept from TuC. And they were right, I have not discribed them in
the propper way, I was influenced by Blacklists and forgot that the objective
of this mag is objectiveness (gee, this looks like a case of objectiscism :-))
So I hereby apollogise to all TuC members and all the other scene dudes I
may have messed up writing ussue #1. The aim of this mag is to bring the
Belgian scene closer together, not to mess it up even more than it is already.
I got SO many messy's and files that I might have missed some. Please, if
you have reacted and you did not get any result in this issue, please
RE-contact me!
The 'news' you are reading in the 4th article is taken from files
floating around the scene, i'll try to get you guys some 'real' news by next
issue.

* Speed Freak changed his board's name & look. So from now on he runs a
Art/Mag/HPA orientated board called 'Sacred Grounds'
* Burps is accusing Dr. Vibe of ripping Ansis. Dr. Vibe kinda admits he has
ripped ansi's and acusses Burps of ripping Ansis. Thorlock Pop is accusing
Burps of ripping ansi. And Whitesnake is accusing Burps, Thorlock Pop & DR
Vibe of shitting up the ansi scene with dumb .TXT files. If this continues,
there will be a lot of news next issue :-))
* Biotic pain joined Fuel. Great! I encourage merges like this. Makes the
mag easier :-)) Guess they are gonna have even more releases now :-))
* And another interesting merge is on its way. Too bad the mergers did not
want me to make it public. SHIT! No that I have some news, I cannot publish
it.

Here you find a list of all Belgian Groups (known to me) with their
corresponding News (if any). If your groups is not in it, or not
described in the correct way, contact me and I'll add it into the next issue.
The following groups are not known to me : Apex, Digital House, Gravity
Soft Productions, Inseceabilis, Isch Crew, The Natives, React, SPA/SPC,
Subnormals, TFL/SPC, Realm, subnormals.
I planned on finding out about them, but since I wanted this issue out
A.S.A.P., I will try to do that by next issue.

Mainly demo crew. They also have a very original 'cybersurfing' division.

I was told the original BonZai was formed on C64 and that the current PC
group is Danish with some Dutch people in it. But isn't there a Belgian

Read the things Rotting Christ wrote in article nø 7. He claims it's a
demogroup... but I saw a Music pack, A GFX pack and some other stuff... euh?

are the dudes that organise The Meeting! (I found the invitation doing a

A misc group wich seem to have a lot of fun on the net... so penthouse
JPG's (oh no, not again :-))) on the release list. But also some utils
leeched from the net and other thingies too.

This guy (I think it is a 1 man project) used to release a shitload of
mods and heaps of other stuff... like proboards utils. He started out with
very low quality (some of these mods are really awfull), but later on I
saw some really nice things. And later later, I did not see anything
anymore... I he still active?

Warez & cracks in Belgium. It exists. But What does MCC Stand for? I
searched the entire bloody NFO file, but no explanation... They do have a
big release list, though. And since all their boards have numbers like XXXX,
I cannot conact them. Maybe they can contact me again.

Several people told me this is a German group. So them putting no .NFO
file in their releases gave 'em some X-tra publicity in Belgium :-))

Small demogroup, released some demo's, Board adds and some Coder's help
(sources). Havn't heared anything from them for a very long time. Does
anybody know if they still exist.
* Nuon [NOABBRV] (noabbrv)
Started out pretty strange : they had file_id's with NO info in it. It
just sais 'our new ppe release'. But right now they seem to have grown
smarter so you could call them 'just' another PPE group.
* Planet Hardcore Freak [PHF] (phf_*.*)
* Primus [PS] (ps-*.*)
* Pure [NOABBRV] (pure*.*)
Last issue I was wondering what the merge this group resulted in was all
about. Well, I can tell u now that they consist of Hypernova, Black Design
and Traxx. So not Legend Design, which is a German demo crew... Kinda messed
up my designs here, I guess. Some of their members also said they wanted
to be called a democrew as well, as they released the 'ASM 95 bustrip
demo'. No sweat, PURE is a demo crew as well! Ans they said they only
release own made mods. PURE only releases own made mods. I hope everybody
is happy now.

Another PPE group, rather productive. Euh, no more inspiration, what
shall I write about you guys?

I remeber their awesome demo, I think it was called 'Deja vu'. Later
they released some explanation of how they coded that thing. In the NFO. file
they told the world they would be very busy with their lives, but that there
would be more productions in the future. But I didn't see anything since then,
though. I even heard some rumours that they don't exist anymore. I sure hope
they come back, because if wired existed back then, 'Deja vu' would
defenetely have been nø1!

members. They do NOT release 'strange' things. But there is one thing I

Hi Bytemare! I've read your magazine 'bout the belgian scene and like
you asked (writting messages to ya) i've got here some info about another
fine belgian-scene group! I'm talking here about "THe CyBeRBRoTHeRZ".
Were WeeZeR (imagina-bbs) iz tha prezident. It is a group who is
specialised in making demo's. Demo's existing out vga'z with very
cool mods. For each aspect of the demo they got "specialtrained" members,
i mean... the vga'z are most of the time made by weezer, the coding is
done by 2 professionel (in real life then) coderz! Master Kurgan and
The antichrist (doomsday-bbs).
A Very original idee of them is the following: they releazed about a
month ago a program (eh code by me :-)) were everybody can order tshirts
online! they just have to fill in a form and upload it at imagina.
So.. thats is i know about that (mine) group. they dont make ppe... no
anziz (only for special occisians like: infofile... tshirtproggie..)
i added to by thiz file there infofile so you can see who the members
are, what they do and what there boardz are!
eh i hope thiz can help you for you further releazez (?) of your magazine
and dont forget.. i always wanna help with coding... just ask me!

Here's some more info, and stuff ...
cSURFER (ex-iCE tm advertisements, ex-aRT) has joined TFL/TDV. He codes.
As for myself, well, it's not like I'll have a sceneless existance :) I'll
just lay low for a while ... I'll still release ansi and PPE's !!!
CMP is my other group (besides BDP) and we release PPE's (well, I do for the
moment ...) Check out my chatter (CMP-CHAT.ZIP) somewhere over the rainbow
and you can find it on the Devil's Palace ... Some of my humhum not so well-
related acquantances have already told people that the CMP-Chatter is the
coolest they've ever seen ... Check it out ... Then check out the join
conference PPE which is auto-configuring, the oneliner and stuff ... More
releases will follow as of July 4.
PS. I've included an article which should have been released in a DnD pack
but I'm not going to do another DnD release ... Hmm, I'll let you have 'em
one at a time :)

she was waiting for him in her easy chair. she could've lied on the bed but
that would be silly, what with her being tired already. she might fall asleep
and not hear him knocking. then again, he probably wouldn't knock on the door
but you never know. he might have lost the key she had given him.
she was wondering if it was wise for her to be sitting here like that, in her
nighties without anything under or over it. she had had to turn the heating on
all the way. now she was wondering about her next electricity bill.
suddenly, a key turned in the lock. a mild curse followed, and then the noise
of a lot of keys on a keychain. another key turned in the lock. a less mild
curse resulted. after five minutes, she decided to get up and open the door
herself.
- who is it ?
- err. it's me.
- that's impossible, i'm on this side of the door. who are you ?
- it's ken.
- owh, ken, you weren't supposed to say that, you were gonna play a burglar,
remember ?
- yeah, but you asked me. i can't remember which key it was you gave me.
- it's the red one, honey.
- awh, allright, you go back and act as if you are unsuspectant.
- okay, i'll be in the living room ...
so she went back to the living room and sat down in her favourite chair which,
as it happened, was not just the only chair in the room but also the only easy
chair in the house. as a matter of fact, this chair was almost the only
furniture left in the house as electricity bills got pretty high up here, in
alaska, and playing some hot-blooded woman in nighties getting burglared at
2 pm was an expensive way of passing another boring weekend. men in grey suits
waving carloads of printed paper passed by her house every once in a while
claiming to have to pick up this and that item of furniture to allow her to
pay for her electricity bill. she once tried to seduce one of these fellows
in order to let her keep the refrigerator in which she kept her food cool
because she didn't feel like going out into the snow to get some lasagna
out of her garden. it sounds silly too. 'honey, i'll fix you some lasagna
tonight. just hold on, i'll get it out the garden rightaway' ...
anyway, she promised herself she would never try to seduce one of those men
again. after going through all the paperwork in which she expressedly
expressed her intent to seduce the man and thereby convince him to forget his
duty for a moment, she gave him a phonecall which he used to call some nearby
legal depot of a kind which, in turn, came round her place (not the depot, just
some men from the depot) to ask her to fill in some more forms. After two weeks
of paperwork, the man decided not to let himself be seduced by her as she was
unable to show some recent blood-test-proof proving that she did not have
anything aids-related. he took her dressoir as well for the overtime he had
put in. he also didn't like to play a burglar. he preferred the husband-with
horns-on part at which he was pretty good. he had had much practice at it
lately...
ken finally managed to unlock the door. ken believes he is colourblind. but he
is not. he just thinks he is. this involves some pretty complicated thinking
going on inside his head. he thinks he is colourblind so the red key he sees,
he thinks, is in fact a green key. so, he thinks again, he should use the
green key because he is colourblind and mixes up green and red. so, the
key which he thinks to be green is actually not green but red. because he only
-thinks- he is colourblind. this causes even more problems as most of his girl-
friends give him keys with red markers on them. which is odd and probably
explains why ken always thinks green is every girls favourite colour. not only
are the markers on their keys green, or so he thinks, but also their lips are
often green (which is, indeed, a fashion statement on xerphia iv in the dular
system - be it amongst the spider-legged monkey-like basilisks) but which is
easily accounted for as a logic-error of ken's. anyway, to put it all in a
nutshell : when ken thinks something is red because it looks green, it's
plainly red because ken thinks it's green. ken also believes most girls to
be colourblind as they always tell him it's the red key while he knows for
certain that it is the -green- key which opens their doors ... even so, ken
is still not as confused as you are at the moment ... ken's last name is
mccloughlyn but that doesn't really matter to the story.
ken closes the door behind him. carefully not to make a noise, he steps
through the garden. he sneaks around to the back of the house and listens.
not a sound. no, he thinks, this is much more fun. the front door is way too
obvious. carefully, he pulls out his tools and spreads 'em out before him.
he takes the tiniest one, which he likes most, and prepares to cut out some
glass of the back window. carry makes a screeching sound. ken gives all his
tools a name. carry is his favourite because it allows for smooth entries at
his girlfriends places. danny is another cool one, he thinks, because it
is able to put nails in walls and crush stuff. the coolest one is martika
which is long slender and has a hole in her in which fit some other forms.
it's actually a dumb screwdriver which came with multiple replacable heads,
cross, flat, ... ken never got the hang of it but thinks martika is by far
the cutest-shaped tool he's got. carry stops screeching and ken uses his
thumb to push the circle inwards. the circle disappears from kens view and
then says 'ksh'. a lot of 'ksh'. as a matter or fact, it said 'skhkshkshskhsk'
which, at least, sounds more convincing then 'ksh'. glass falls rather con-
vincingly. ken thinks he's got it right this time. he got to the right house
just by counting the house on the lane. ken can't read housenumbers. ken can't
read traffic signs. ken is not only colourblind but also blind when it suits
him. it suits him fine so he is blind most of the time ...
only seconds later, ken is apprehended by the police which laughs heartily at
his 'burglar and the burglee' story. meanwhile, she (which is short for
sheharazade) is getting it from an unknown burglar who happens to be called
ken but his last name is davies. which -does- matter to the story. they fall
in love and get married. ken (the one whose last name doesn't matter because
he's not the one getting any kids so his family dies when he will) fell in
disgrace and was sentenced to death because the woman whose house he was
burglaring had seen his face in the pale sunlight, gotten a stroke and fallen
to her death. which is good. only, glass falls more convincingly. ken and
she got a lot of kids which were all called davies with their last name as
they were his sons. except for tommy whose last name was setches. but he was
adopted. because she thought thirteen was a nice number.

Hello there, the Knight/FUEL! on the mike...
Letz do some ego-tripping and have a little article on FUEL... (hehe, you had
it coming right from the start)
Well now...for starters..FUEL means "For Unlimited Electronic Loudness" and
was founded by Brainbreaker, Mailman (now called Super Droopy whahahoeha) and
Ben Hurry..
One day I (The Knight) was chatting with above stated Brainbreaker..
We were both (still) members of a group called Bad Influence. He was a ppe
coder and composer, and I was a...wel actually a nothing, well ehm, okay
I was a courier...
As I was saying..we were chatting on his board Tha Gulf and he told me of his
urge to start up a new group of his own...Cool! I thought...a group that has
its roots in Leuven (where I live), yeah...and I wanted to be a part of it.
But still there was one thing I really found kinda ehm..silly. They wanted
to call the group DCG (Da Cewl Guys) and I thought: "UGH! Man, that kinda
really suxx like hell", becuz the acro doesn't stand for a REAL word.
So Brainbreaker (kinda pissed) asked me if I had any better suggestions then.
Hehe, after 2 seconds of thinking I came up with the name FUEL. He liked it,
I liked it and also MailMan (whom is called Super Droopy now..whoeahahaha..)
liked it. But there was only one more little problem, the name FUEL had
to actually MEAN something. Darn, I hadn't thought of that, so we (me and BB)
started filling in the words. You can't imagine what garbage came out of
that...Some examples: Five Understanding Enjoying Lamers
For Uninteresting Everlasting Lumberjacking
Fancy Unreal Electric Losers
Fantastic Undecided Endurable Loverboys
For Ultimate Enjoyment (of) Lightness
Fuck Unreliable Everlasting Lamers

But we wisely decided to keep it at :

Interludium: Actually, I didn't come up with the name FUEL just out of the
blue. Some of the older guys in the scene might remember back
in the old c64 days that there was a little cracking group
called FUEL too... I was a gfx dude back then, known (or unknown)
under the same alias...)
Well that is how I got the idea, keep at least the name alive,
the activity of the group changed but still I found it a too good
a name to just let it disappear from the scene. (thx Milkman and
Brain for those nice days back in the old times, if any of you
read this please contact me ASAP)
Now, we weren't actually quite ready for the scene yet, because we didn't
have the first clue of what it was going to be exactly that we were going
to produce. You might think (by the full name of the group) that we only
did music stuff. WRONG, we do lots a stuff, for instance: PPe's, 3d anims,
music,ansis,txt,dox,dos stuff (and maybe in the future a genuine demo)
Well FUEL was slowly (but steadily) growing and the most important
thing we wanted, was to get to know the members as best as possible and to get
along with one another. Apart from that we tried (and try to have as much fun
as we can, and now and then, when we feel like it we produce a little something..
Some say that we release too much and that brings the quality down... Well,
it used to be like that, since we wanted to give "beginners" a chance of
developing their skills... And the best motivation for a beginner is to show
him that his work is respected...
Now things are changing, productions will have to go through several quality
controls before being released.. (we got 28 members afterall)
We got no deadlines, no problems, no internal hassles, no shit, no grudges,
just FUEL... -=> anyway..tell me, were would you go without it huh ?
Now, as far as those releases were concerned, in the beginning there weren't
too many "active" members in FUEL. It was kinda strange, just at the moment
when I was considering to leave the group and look out for a more active one...
it started. In one week there were 4 releases, and none of them were done by
me ;) So I was very surprised and happy at the same moment. FUEL was finally
beginning to roll more and more like a "BMW" than a "DEUX-CHEVAUX" (for those
who don't know what a D-Chevaux is, well it looks like a Duck and is an old
Citroen Mark car with 2pk!)
Now don't get the wrong impression, I'm not saying that we were releasing heaps
of stuff at a high rate. The name is "FUEL", not "NITRO"
Now as far as our HQ's and Dist Sites were concerned, well there appeared to
be a little problem.. As you might know the 016 zone (in Belgium)
counts quite a lot of cool boards and we had to choose between some,
which we really couldn't. So what you got is a quite remarkable situation.
3 of our Hq's were situated in the 016 zone... It appears that Leuven (Belgium)
is quite florishing when it comes to boardz...
Later on, when the group was getting some international status aswell, we were
forced to rearrange things a bit, so we called in a new coordinator. His name
was Deep Freezer.. He gave the group a tremendous boost and made some things
possible that we'd never imagined.
First thing he did was build out stronger Hq's and limiting the number of dist-
sites... If the releases are good enough, they should get spread without much
trouble..So dist sites are more of a prestige thing...
He also invented our (internally known) NewsLetter, and last but not least, he
made sure that we were reachable via the InterNet.
We had a bit of trouble with another cool Belgian group (Triloxy), but it's
quite useless to start digging up the past now, when afterall everything is
solved and the groups live happily alongside of eachother..
It appears that Belgium is one of the only countries where groups tend to make
eachother's life miserable and hard by slandering eachother etc... Maybe that
is because it is such a small country with so many groups, all doing "more or
less" the same thing.. If you catch my drift... They are all concurrents of
one another and sometimes that can get out of hand..
But like I said, that's in the past now. We respect TLY and hope they do the
same with FUEL...

Having lotsa fun (meetings, parties)
Releasing in the first place quality, but quantity AND quality is even nicer ;)

having loads of fun ? Well then, what are you waiting for ? Get to the

have to cut a few wires off the phone... just plug it in... connect the right
cables... dial one of our Hq's...chat with the Sysop and tell him that you
want to be part of FUEL... If the sucker refuses, go to your mommy and tell
her all about that nasty nitwit Sysop and his dirty little group..
And after you've grown out of telling everything to your mommy, maybe you can
try to apply again and have more luck then.
And remember : YOUR PC AIN'T RUNNING COOL ? THEN BOOST IT UP WITH FUEL !

SALVATION Bytemare. ..
Before all thing, I present, I am a miserable ZYZOP that
makes part a group that appoints Le CLAN, but that is enough
new and again very productive. This group is composed solely
three members, and its production would have normally to be
Crack, Demo (ASM, pascal,. ...), FLI, FLC, but the prob it
is that one is strong youth in the area and that one is in
lot difficultly for the moment.
It is a bit in order that that I you dispatch this message.
Would be it possible to insert in your a whole newspaper
smattering of "ad" , signalling that we are in search of
active members: Ansi - artist, Mod-maker,. ..
We are not very large but I think that that bit to improve
with the time.
As for the fact that I am miserable, that explains by the fact
that I have opened a board since more of a month to make us
