:: WELCOME ::
Welcome to the "I got a new job and I don't know how I got it"
issue. About 2 weeks ago I applied for a Computer Coordinator's
job here on campus figuring that in reality I'd never even get an
interview. Well, I got an interview and consequently the job. So
now I'll be running the tech support department for one of the
colleges here on campus. This also involves working with Mac's,
Unix, NT, multimedia, support for faculty, staff and students... I
have no idea how I got this job - really fooled somebody somewhere.
Imagine... Me being employed as a Computer Coordinator is kinda
like letting the fox manage the hen house - woohoo! November 2 is
the start date...

In other notable news, nothing fucking happened these last two
weeks at all. Wow, I must be getting boring. No movies, no night
out, wait, we had Indian food (as in India) a couple of times -
that's cool. I don't know if any of you out there like Indian food
but personally I think it is the best tasting food on the planet.
If you haven't tried it let me say this first off, INDIAN FOOD IS
NOT ALL CURRY! So don't bother sending any whining notes about
hating the smell of curry in your apartment building or whatever.
I don't care. I like it. So grow up and get over it. Besides I
could make a coconut/onion/curry/fish dish that melt any curry
complaints in your mouth forever. Experimenting with new foods is
one of my favorite pastimes. If you haven't tried [insert name of
ethnic food here] then you can't complain about it. Well, you can
but people will just think you're knob. The only thing better than
Indian food is, well, that's a whole other subject that Goatboy and
I have discussed that I'm not going to get into here, hehehe...

One other thing, actually two things: 1) everyone should send a
note to Antipress1@aol.com asking for a copy of AntiPress #1. It's
a really interesting, well worth the read, critique of stupid
journalism in the mainstream press. Read it and then pester them to
get issue #2 out soon. And 2) everyone should also check out
disobey.com's latest world domination feature: DNN - Disobey
Network News. Go to http://www.disobey.com to not only read DNN but
also learn how you can become a contributor - do your part to help
Morbus take over the planet before some religious fanatics blow it
up. Tell 'em both that VD sent ya.

Anyways, let's get on with this issue, which has less sections but
more content this time around. The Conspiracyshite piece is really
long but worthy of publication so some things had to be
sacrificed... And, oh yeah, it was my birthday last weekend so if
you want to send me some lavish gifts or something (how 'bout that
video tape Ang? hehe), that would be cool with me. <g>

Have fun and be careful out there...

"A Kentucky bookbinder and printer, Timothy Hawley Books, offers a
line of what it calls bibliocadavers == handsomely bound volumes
whose blank or printed pages are created from a pulp containing
the ashes of a loved one."

by Cullen Murphey

"If you don't respect our intellectual property, we will use our
intellect to hunt you down and kick your ass into a bloody pulp."

:: HORROR - BY MORBUS ::
The Gate

Besides the fact that I am definitely going to see BRIDE OF CHUCKY this
weekend, I didn't see anything new new new. None of that URBAN LEGEND
shit from Williamson, which inevitably was another I KNOW WHAT YOUR
BOOBS DID LAST SUMMER... nor did I see that great "mouth stitch rip
scene" from that other movie whose name I can't remember.

No, this week, I saw THE GATE. THE GATE has some of the coolest evil
henchmen that I have seen in a long time. These guys are obviously
stop-motion, but it doesn't really matter. Probably about a foot high,
and looking like some gargoyle with a suckermouth, they can form into
"Ultra-Evil" and become (for example) a dead person crashing through a
wall. When hit a bunch of times with a blunt object, the dead person...
drips... into the little beasties. Besides the fact that it's just
plain cool, the special fx team does a good job pulling it off.

Although not the best horror movie in the world, I can't think of
anything that makes THE GATE bad. With evil music influencing the pre-
love-Marilyn-Manson kid into attempting to exorcise the demons which
appear after the magical words are accidentally recited, to the
endless "they keep coming back" and the sadly disappointing "just
kidding, everyone who died comes back to life" ending, THE GATE is
pretty damn good.

Oop, wait... there is one bad thing. No one dies on screen. Well,
unless you count the "Modified-Ultra-Evil" (doesn't split into evil
henchmen) impersonation being beaten to death by the little kid. But
that's not a REAL death, because it's not human to begin with.

THE GATE works seamlessly, with innocent events turning into "oh my
god, THAT'S what that was?" and a kick ass Evil Henchmen-Leading Demon
(the scene where the henchmen crowd around and raise the Demon is
awesome too). This is definitely a movie you want to rent.

:: CONSPIRACYSHITE ::
Someone forwarded this to me and I've lost the original note so I can't
give credit where credit is due... If you know who compiled this drop
VD a line so we can set things right. (This is just the cheap ass way
of saying we at VD haven't bothered to substantiate any of the claims
below - yellow journalism at it's finest! woodoggie!!!!)
