Saxonia Issue 01 Part 018
My share of problems
By Rumrunner/VOID
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When working on the code for this mag, I had several problems with some
of the routines, and at one point something really screwed up. One of
my harddrive partitions said good night, and that was not just any
partition either. It was the one I had all my utilities on. Yes, that's
right. Programs such as DiskSalv was on the partition that didn't work.
And to say the least, it didn't do much good there.
Well, I have access to other computers (such as in school) and I was
fortunate enough to find DiskSalv on aminet, and eventually got back
most of the files I had lost. There were two programs I could not get
back however. One of them was hrtmon, which I had archived on another
partition, so that was not a problem. The other was some shareware
program called printmanager or something like that. I didn't have a
backup of it and I couldn't really care less as I have never used the
program after downloading it.
What I'm heading for here is that even though harddrives are important
today, they can, by no means, replace the good old floppydisks.
It should be unneccesary to tell that I now have a disk with Filemaster,
HDToolBox, DiskSalv and such important programs ready for the next
harddrive crash. That's something every computeruser should have.
