SimEarth: Gaia, The Living Planet
Although no details can be found out about this one, the rough
descriptions on this is great. You can control aspects of the earth
such as continental drifts, climate.. etc. The graphics look fairly
nice(At least on Mac II at 640x480 Resolution), and with the same
click here and there interface. Looks like this one will be lots of
fun for most of us. Another product that could be expected from
Maxis is SimSolar System, rumor says that they have plans for one,
but we'll never know until we actually get the true message from
the company itself.
Flight Simulations,. etc.
This year looks great for flight simulator fans, first came
Wing Commander - best simulation of the year in my opinion.. Now
lots more simulators are to follow, these are Lucasfilm's
Secret Weapons Of The Luftwaffe, Megafortress from Three-Sixty,
Wings from Cinemaware, Red Baron from Dynamix, Lightspeed and
Knights of the Sky from Microprose, Falcon 3.0 and A-10 from
Spectrum HoloByte, and more.
RPG Previews.. etc.
Might and Magic III is due out April of 1991, and will support VGA.
Hard Nova should be a promising Sci-Fi RPG, from EA, and is basically
the sequel to Sentinel Worlds. Ultima 7 and Worlds of Ultima 2 are due
out sometime next year, and that's something to look forward to. Rumors
are all over the place, including one that says Leisure Suit Larry 4 will
have modem support, so if that is true, it's another thing to look
forward to.
Strategies.. etc.
Rules of Engagement, from Omnitrend, is a starship combat game, no
details, but sound promising. Universal Military Simulator II is
supposedly to be released by Christmas, and it is very promising,
32,000 military units with design-yourself world, 127 nations, 525
provinces.
CD-ROM Misc.
Whatever happens, CD-ROM is here. New Sierra games are now known
to use the Industry-Standard HIGH SIERRA FORMAT for the games, so
good news, no propritary devices. King's Quest V and Space Quest IV
CD-ROM versions should be out late this year or early next year.
