The Chaos Case - the follow up
with some comments by Chaos of Farbrausch
"When I met Clary to tell her they finally managed to give me a working
archive, I called the demo a "bold animation". Clary feared disqualification
and fiercely defended the demo. that was not my point. I hated the prospect
of seeing the audience fooled by a fake, at least for a moment, and so my
inept comment slipped out.
It was not my intention to disqualify the demo or future demos by Drifters,
I meant it as a personal comment about thier work. I and Clary had a brief
discussion about this, and now I know that only amplified the initial
misunderstanding."
This and the fact that he also wrote it to me, should make clear that
he's really sorry about the whole thing even if he did recognize it a bit
different. Quoting his email he wrote that he didn't say anything like
that he wanted to censor this demo. Not this year and not the year after.
Probably this was a misunderstanding. Both sides were heated up as Chaos
had to visit the Drifters table for some times because their demo refused
to work and it wasn't only to set the flag of the demo as executable. You
know, the archiver zip destroyes this flag. So for him his visit cannot
have been taken as being surprisingly or suddenly.
Chaos does not even try to deny that his words were offensive. He called
their demo bold because it only consisted of animations and wanted to
protect the BP visitors, that in his opinion could have been betrayed of
a fake. Then a long and mindless dispotation began.
"Me and Clary did talk cross-purposes. And the fact that I am a german
person and she a french one and that we both spoke english didn't make
it better." He could have left the scenery, but ..."she just didn't peg
away."
As he's out of the biz for lightyears, he could not know that everybody
at the party already expected nothing else than pure animations when
speaking of such fantastic visuals inside a Drifters demo. Well, it's
about time to just start to forget about this case. There's truely no
reason to feel pissed off anymore or to be demotivated from the Drifters
team. He said that his words were insulting and he apologized himself for
what he did. And that should be pretty okay for everybody. There's no need
to nail him on a cross...
True is that it would be simply better if an active Scener out of the
Amiga Scene would check out the entries for BP next year. Somebody like
Darkhawk of Iris. I'm sure Chaos would not be angry to get rid of this
unloved duty.
