. . . : ; The "I GOT A GUT" Notice

Welp, it's finally happened. I've aged past that point where I can eat
anything I desire and not have anything to show for it. I've now got the
growing of a little gut. As much as I could turn into a redneck and say
that I'm sooo happy for it, I can truthfully say that it looks like I'm
wearing a bad Halloween costume.

. . . : ; The "SO WHAT'LL YOU DO?" Notice

I'm sure as hell not going to exercise, that's for sure. Damn, I create
crap for a living, I don't show myself off to people. I can live with a
bad costume, and I'll just make sure not to show past my nipples on the
forthcoming Disobey WebCam ("Drinking some milk! Drinking some milk!").

. . . : ; ANNOUNCEMENTS and no, there really won't be a webcam...

NEW DEVIL SHAT (#FiftyFour): Devil Shat, normally with a hidden agenda
or theme, throws hell to the wind and brings comparisons between The
Blair Witch Project and a Raft, a piss poor introduction from Morbus,
and a great article from Cameron Barrett relating the only book you need
to read this year (twice, he recommends). Take a gander.

LOW BANDWIDTH UPDATED: Added four new listings as well as remove some
dead listings. Really want to get a more automated way of doing this or
even getting some help from other people (hint, hint, you worthless
readers - sheesh, only readers... Damn You!)...

KUDOS: More kudos appeared all over the place, the most lovable being a
cover hint and a decent article (reprinted from Shift Magazine) about
NetSlaves in the new issue of the Utne Reader. Ghost Sites also got
mentioned in About.com, and Low Bandwidth got mentioned in an issue of
NTK. All around, they doubled the normal amount of hits we usually
receive (thanks!).

LACK OF UPDATES: Disobey didn't have that many updates this week due to
the new secret project that I've been working on. Nothing that has a
firm connection to Disobey - it's more a commercial venture with my boss
at the ISP. I'm almost to the point of beta testing, which is good. As
you know, I'll announce it in these pages once it becomes world ready,
but it should be commercially viable (I hope).

. . . : ; EVERYTHING else and at least, not in the near future...

STUB TOE: You know, I wrote this done on a piece of scrap paper, and
then realized that 1) my toe no longer hurts, and 2) why the hell would
my audience care about the damn thing? Whatever the case, shortly after
I released the last issue, I stubbed by damn toe on the bathroom door
stop thing (you know, that pointless little raised wood between the
entrance to two different rooms). If I had to turn this whole exciting
event into a metaphor, I suppose it would have something to do with
stubbing out a cigarette.

REGEX: I've been playing with regular expressions recently, mostly in
association with the new project I've mentioned above. Even if the
project doesn't make me rich, I'll still be incredibly happy with the
experience in Perl it has given me. Best way to learn is to fulfill a
need or want...

NEW CRAP: Well, I bought the new Chemical Brother's album, which is
pretty damn good. Also saw the South Park movie. Now, don't get me wrong
- sure, it's humor on a rung several lower then the Three Stooges, but
this movie was fucking hilarious. I'll probably go see it again
(although I dunno - Lake Placid [hehe] is coming out next week). Also
broke down and bought Zoom 56k modems for the Mac and PC, and I'm now
getting a nice 49,333 with both the machines.

. . . : ; BLAHBLAHS OF THE WEEK: ( july 2nd - july 15th )

[Future-of-the-Week]-= New Computer
---I'm about another six hundred dollars away from a new computer, but
---damn it, I'm getting there. I could have had it a long time ago if
---I hadn't been kicked out of my house... ah twell. Now I have more
---room for it, at least... It'll be a new PC, which will free up my
---other machines to put a decent installation of Linux on them...

[Crazy-Weather-of-the-Week]-= Heat and Storm
---You know Chico's Groove is going to hell in a handbasket when I
---start talking about the weather, but damn, we've been having some
---annoying stuff. First, it'll be tsunami season: trees rooting up and
---killing people (literally). Then, an hour later, it'll be humidity
---95%, where the fan stops moving air about an inch from it's blade.

[Neato-of-the-Week]-= Cron for the Macintosh
---If you've used Unix longer than a day, you probably know something
---about Cron, a rather powerful time system type thing which you can
---tell to do anything at any time, in any interval. Recently, I
---discovered an almost perfect port of it for the Macintosh, which I've
---now become intimately dependant on. If you need to be reminded to
---do things, or otherwise have tasks which you want carried out
---automatically and can stand to use something that's NOT a GUI,
---then I can heartily recommend this port...
