Sega Dreamcast Development System HKT-01
HKT-01 is the name of the Sega's official Development System for the Dreamcast. The system is also known as katana . It was used by programmers to create and debug Dreamcast games.
The HKT-01 can be connected to an optional Katana GD-Writer unit (model HKT-04 or HKT-0400), which can burn GD-ROMs that will play directly in the system.
There is an extensive range of ports at the rear of the HKT-01 unit, including VGA output, S-Video, Midi in and out, Serial, Dual SCSI, and AV ouputs.
The HKT-01 unit and the HKT-0400 unit were connected together with a SCSI cable.
The HKT-01 contains a 4 GB SCSI hard disk and needs to be connected to a Windows PC to properly work.
The HKT-01 was sold to developers together with empty GD-ROM discs (HKT-06).
The GD-ROM drive is a front-loading type, and the drive is built into the tray itself.
