How to clear the VLC player recent view history on Apple macOS
By doing right-click on the VLC icon in the macOS dock, a menu appears showing a list of the recent video file played.

To delete this list, is enough to select File , then Open Recent and finally Clear Menu .
The list of the recent played files should not be present anymore.
In order to tell VLC to do not save the played music in the list: select VLC , then preferences .
In the new windows click the button Show All
Go to Interface , Main Interfaces , macosx and deselect Keep Recent Items .
