CHEMICAL ABSTRACTS INDEX ON CD-ROM
Compact Cambridge will produce a CD-ROM version of the 12th
Collective Index to Chemical Abstracts and a companion CD-ROM
product containing displayable bibliographic citations and
abstracts for the 1987-1991 period.
The CD-ROM version of the 12th Collective Index will transform
114 volumes to a set of 10 compact discs containing all the
information in the print version except chemical structure
diagrams. Compact Cambridge will create a customized interface
and retrieval engine which will include a special browsing
feature.
The products will be available in 1993.
HEALTH CARE PRODUCTS CD-ROM DATABASE
DIALOG OnDisc HEALTHCARE PRODUCT COMPARISON SYSTEM is now
available from Dialog Information Services. The database
provides brand-name product comparisons for equipment used in the
health care field. It includes reports on equipment usage,
specifications, warranty information, pricing, manufacturer
address, and contact information. Developed by ECRI, an
independent nonprofit agency, the database is derived from three
of ECRI's print Product Comparison Systems: Clinical Laboratory,
Diagnostic Imaging and Radiology, and Hospital.

Annual subscriptions are $3,450. The CD-ROM covers the latest
three months of data and is updated quarterly. ECRI provides a
hotline for updates since the last disc release.

YEAR BOOK CD-ROM COVERS 39 MEDICAL SPECIALTIES
The YEAR BOOK series of medical publications will soon be
available on a single CD-ROM from Compact Cambridge. The YEAR
BOOKs, published by Mosby-YEAR BOOK, Inc., offer complete
coverage of clinically relevant articles in 39 different medical
and surgical disciplines. The series includes more than 50,000
citations, with custom-written abstracts and expert commentary.
The Compact Cambridge CD-ROM combines the contents of the entire
series of YEAR BOOKs, spanning up to five years of information.

DIALOG ENHANCES FEDERAL REGISTER AND STANDARD & POOR'S
Dialog Information Services, Inc. announces major enhancements to
its DIALOG OnDisc FEDERAL REGISTER and STANDARD & POOR'S
CORPORATIONS.
DIALOG OnDisc FEDERAL REGISTER is now configured so individual
years may be purchased separately. Each year, beginning with
1990, is available on a single CD-ROM. Back year discs may now
be retained by the customer to provide efficient archival
research. DIALOG OnDisc FEDERAL REGISTER contains the complete
text of the printed Federal Register from 1990 to the present.
Each year is sold for a one-time purchase price of $750 with the
current year product receiving updates every two months.
DIALOG OnDisc STANDARD & POOR'S CORPORATIONS now provides
detailed strategic, financial, and executive information for more
than 12,000 publicly held companies. The original database
covered approximately 9,000 companies. Coverage also includes
profiles on over 45,000 leading private companies and biographies
on nearly 70,000 executives. Recent financial news has been
added to provide current corporate financial and competitive
conditions. Available for an annual subscription fee of $4900,
the CD-ROM database is updated on a bimonthly basis.

The addition of new DOS software (DIALOG OnDisc Manager Version
4.0) for IBM PCs and compatibles offers expanded capabilities
with an accounting module and a variety of new features. Both
products are available with Apple Macintosh software.
CHILDREN'S REFERENCE PLUS
On one disk that is updated annually, CHILDREN'S Reference Plus,
by R. R. Bowker, provides complete bibliographic information,
reviews, and qualitative information on books, serials,
audiocassette, and videos for young people. Data is provided
from thirty reference Bowker sources, including full-text book
reviews.
