gateway
=======
A special application program that allows two different networks
(private to public, or TYMNET to non-TYMNET) to communicate and
transfer data. Three types of gateways are TYM2, which connects
networks that are both using TYMNET packet technology; X.25, which
connects a non-TYMNET private network to the TYMNET network; and X.75,
which connects an international Public Data Network (PDN) to the
TYMNET network.

that allows users to determine internal status for its different
components, such as port, line, and node management; statistical
analysis for performance, errors, and throughput.

GED
===
General External Design. An NTD document that provides a general
description of the external features and capabilities of the product
proposed for development. The GED serves to freeze the scope and
characteristics of the new product. This document is produced for
review prior to the implementation phase and is later replaced by
the External Reference Specification (ERS) after implementation.

General Internal Design (GID)
=============================
An NTD document that provides a general description of the internal
design of the product. It contains information about the interfaces
within the product, message formats, and control information. This
document is produced for review in the latter stages of the design
phase but prior to the implementation phase. It is then replaced by
the Internal Maintenance Specification (IMS). General Processor (GP)
board A Turbo Engine logic board used for general data processing.
The board contains an MC68020 (Motorola) micro-processor. ISIS-68K
is the major software that resides on this board. See also File Server
