Funny how yesterday I wrote a textfile about time travel and all of a
sudden in class today some guy gives an account of a time traveler from
the year 2036.
"WHAT WAS IN THAT DROP?"
"What?"
"YOU JUST MADE A DROP AT A VERY VITAL POINT. WHAT WAS IN IT? WHO'S
DOCS DID YOU GET?"
"Are you for real?"
"THIS IS NO TIME FOR ARGUING PHILOSOPHY! LIVES ARE AT STAKE! WHAT WAS
IN THAT DROP?"
"First off, this is a toilet. The only thing it is a drop point for is
poop and the occasional peepee. Secondly, the 'drop' I made was a
pushpin. It happened to get stuck in my hair during my last class when
I leaned up against the wall. I pulled it out and was fidgeting with it
for most of the class and decided I didn't need it so I would flush it
down the toilet. No harm done."
"DON'T TALK TO ME ABOUT THE HARM YOU JUST DID! DO YOU KNOW WHERE THOSE
PIPES LEAD?"
"To the sewer I'm guessing? My knowledge of plumbing is very limited.
Typically I just drop stuff down the pipes. Don't really think about
where it goes."
"Most people still think the spies are in the wires. NO SPY HAS BEEN
CAUGHT IN THE WIRES FOR A VERY LONG TIME DO YOU KNOW WHY?"
"They upgraded to wireless?"
"NO! IT'S BECAUSE WE TOOK THE WIRES BACK FROM THEM!"
"We?"
"US! Maybe not you yet, but there is a whole legion of us dedicated
to the disruption of spy transmission. We intercept their drops and
plant fake ones, like that pin you just flushed. You just planted a
fake drop without knowing it."
"Great, but I'm not trying to get caught up in any sort of spy games
right now. I barely made it through midterms, it's going to be a
miracle if I maintain these grades."
"But you don't really care about grades."
"I DO! THIS IS IMPORTANT!"
"It's not and you don't feel it is at all. What you really care
about is making a difference, doing something for those that don't
have a say in what goes on without them knowing. Just once, wouldn't
you like to fight back, to take action against those abusing the
system for their own purposes?"
"Actually I just want to be left alone."
"Fine! But think about this while you are along. If you really
wanted to be left alone, why did you throw that pin in the toilet?"
"Because the last time I threw something like that in one of the
trashcans on campus, some crazy like you came after me."
"You know about the trashmen?"
"As any self-respecting dumpster diver would."
"YOU'RE A GREATER RESOURCE THAN I COULD EVER HAVE IMAGINED!"
"I just like digging in trash."
"But you know things, you get involved with the right people.
It's all falling in place for you."
"I just want to get some dinner."
"Alright fine. Do me one favor when you leave this bathroom, pay
close attention to the lady in the gray outfit right outside.
Watch what she's giving to her contact and then maybe you'll have
something to do with us yet."
I nod to him, just so he'll leave me alone. My only worry right
now is food, not what some pretend spies are handing each other.
But all the same, I give the guy the benefit of the doubt. As I
step back into the hallway there is a very attractive older lady
in a grey business suit. She's got really distracting dark eyes
but I do what I can to not make contact, just watch as she passes
by her "contact."
"Do you want to just take this for me? I have to go."
Her voice trails off. There are quick and shifty glances around the
area. She passes off a small package to her contact. I attempt to
remain unnoticed and scamper off to get some grub.

iT will never get soggy in milk and will probably give continual nods to
the wonderful world of music that makes gir giddy like a school girl.
aLSO be on the look out for science of the fiction variety to appear
withing these virtual pages. dON'T worry though, angstmonster will
