As _not_ documented, right clicking on the program to launch, then
double clicking with the left butoon solves this problem. Tos 2.06 solves the
docking programs on the desktop problem, though, IMO, Gemini does it better.

Well, things would probably get done a lot quicker if some genius at
Atari hadn't decided that it was more cost effective to have less staff
than sell more computers. ;-( While on the surface this idea may have
merit, it remains to be seen whether it is effective as a long term
business strategy.

No, it was Amiga Corporation, founded by a bunch of rich doctors who wanted
to invest their money. Jay Miner (of Atari 8-bit design fame...) and a number
of others got together & started working on it, and were funded by Atari to the
tune of a few hundred thousand. Apparently Atari assumed they had some kind
of agreement set up to buy out Amiga, Inc. when the machine was done, but it
never happened because Commodore got there first.

If you wasnt something close to MultiFinder the best thing is probably
MultiGEM. I do not know much about the program but it seems fairly
competent.

I recall some discussion about warnings in using PC Ditto (the software
version) with a hard disk. Can someone tell me if PC Ditto can be used
with a hard disk, and if so, what dangers there are in so doing? I am
new to PC Ditto (just purchased it right here through this newsgroup -
it is a classic that I wanted for my collection! :-) so any other hints,
experiences and warnings would be appreciated. (I know it is sloooooww.)
You probably should email me directly as I am sure that this subject is
not presently of general interest.

Well there was a few problems with formating the hard drive with HDX,
did not fill all the boot sector data correctly..
There are a few Doc's that I found on GEnie about all this, do you access
GEnie..?? if not let me know, there is also a maths patch as well..

does anybody know a public domain program that reads files in
Hewlett Packards HPGL language and outputs them on a ST/STe/TT ?
Alternatively, is there PD program converting HPGL files into
Postscript ones ( maybe executables i.e. (1) *.ttp _or_ (2) *.ps
for a suitable programming of the Postscript Printer)

Greetings.
I'm having problems trying to write a chunk of code to access the "shellp"
features of Gulam and Mupfel.
I want to create a shell to go in my soon-to-be-released "TreeTop" BBS package
(hierarchical message base system) that would let you use standard gulam or
mupfel commands while adding some of my own and creating a new environment.
The problem is, I'm writing this in GFA Basic. (I know, I know, but you find
me a language that is interpeted as well as compiled, has a wonderful editor
like GFA, and lets you fix mistakes and problems on the fly... Besides, I'm a
floppy user)
Anyways, I wrote a chunk of code similar to this:
Shellp=$4f6
Togu=Lpeek(Shellp)
Command$="ls -l"+chr$(0)
Return%=C:togu(Varptr(command$))
I tried thousands of combinations, like using "Call togu" instead of C:,
passing a null string, executing the contents of "togu+2" instead of togu
(which contains a "jmp" command before the address).
I'm annoyed. I really want to get the shell and configuration editor done on
this thing. It's really beginning to bother me. All I ever get is two bombs,
and I have to re-boot every single time because the computer doesn't stay
operational for long after this crash.
I tried linking in some C code in .O files, but am doing something wrong as
well. I even tried putting a "system.ttp" program on the same drive as the bbs
and trying to load that with "pexec mode 3"... which bombs, as well.
Help me!

Greetings Atarians, I need some help with the Sozobon C I just got. I have
installed it on my 520 w/DS floppy, and it is working well so far (having
2.5 megs helps I think).
Anyway, I need some help on accessing functions, like XBIOS and BIOS and
that type of stuff. Where can I get more information on using these
functions, I really have no documentation about them. Just as an example,
I would like to know how to clear the screen (VT52 maybe???) and plot a
point or draw a line...
Please respond by e-mail, I imagine this is an easy question and a lot of
people may have suggestions... As you can tell I am new to C on the ST so
I am sort of lost at the moment.

What addresses have you set your drives for..??
On another note can you tell me the part No. of your clock chip in
the Supra host adapter, this is the big ic.. 24 pins..
I ended up changing the clock IC, to a Dalas one, I also rang Supra
but did not get mach help at all..

A couple quickies.... one, I think only the last drive is supposed to

two, what interleave are you using? I just put together a ST296N with
a supra interface and had to use 2:1 to get things to work properly...
(suprised the heck out ofme, since I expected a 1:1 to work...)

If I only terminate the last drive in the chain, it's the only one that
works. The supra documentation reccomends terminating the drive closest
to the interface. If I terminate the drive closest to the interface,
erratic performance results (ie, now it's here-now it's not drives.)
The drives are set for SCSI 0, LUN 0 & SCSI 1, LUN 0.
The part # on the clock chip is: DS1287 (and yes, I know what the big
Dallas chip is :) I'm not hardware-illiterate (sp), that's why this
puzzles me so much...

Hello from Singapore,
I just bought a 2MB MegaSTE with 48MB harddisk last Thursday. I cames with
1.44MB disk drive now. However there is some slight problem in reading HD disk.
It frequently ask to RETRY. I have more success formatting HD disk with FCOPY-
PRO than with Format option on the Desktop. Segate 48MB internal hard disk has
rattering sound now and then (to prevent R/W head sticking perhaps?). With 2MB
RAM I cannot get Spectre GCR to work and have to run Spectre with Spectre 128
cartridge. However, after adding 2 more SIMMs into the empty SIMMS slot to make
it 4MB everything work. With 2MB RAM Spectre will give wrong RAM size and hang.
Although the computer has 1.44MB drive I can only R/W 1.44MB in TOS and MS-DOS
mode. The current Spectre 3.0 still not support HD drive. Both SuperCharger
and Spectre can access and boot from the MegaSTE internal hard disk. The mono-
chrome monitor has slight flickering.The keyboard has as good feel and as lousy
key caps (printed on marking which does not look very lasting) as Mac classic
and Mac LC keyboards as they all made in Malaysia perhaps from the same OEM
factory. The mouse buttons have better feel than the Mega4 mouse.
Now the problems: Aladin,German Mac emulator, from versions 2.01 to the last
Version 3.0 do not work on Mega STE. I can only run the older version 1.3e.
(could anyone tell me if the Aladin 3.0 works with the TT please?)

Try ICD's cleanup or a floppy recovery program....
I've salvaged a couple "bad disks" that way.
(First you have to find another copy...)
