But can't you use monochrome EGA (that is 640x400 isn't it ???)
In monochrome you don't need the extra colors of VGA anyway :-)

I'm back on the net. So I can answer this question.
As I stated before:
This 386 emulator ONLY ONLY ONLY works with a MEGA STE.
And I noticed nothing about scrolling the screen up and down during
the demo I got!

In the same vein, let me encourage people posting information about ANYTHING
for sale to indicate the pricing. About half the stuff I've seen go by that
has prices has had pointers following it saying "you can buy brand new for
less than that--try again". I, for one, don't want to call all over the
country, or all over my neighborhood, to correct somebody's erroneous notion
of the value of his white elephant. Likewise, if I'm at all interested, and
the price is available AND a good deal, the seller won't have long to wait.
In general, I ignore messages that have no pricing, but I do consider things
for sale across the country if the information is there.

The program you need is called UNITERM - I have V2.0c and find it's
VT100 emulation excellent. It even does the graphics, double-height
characters and application keypad.
You should find it in any decent PD/Shareware library.

Actually, my monitor is an amber monitor that I used to use with an Atari 800.
I'm looking for a way to connect it to a spare ST to make it useful for my
girlfriend. Anyone know where I can get a cable that pulls out the composite
output from an ST's monitor port? I realize that this will only work in color
resolutions and that I'll only get grayshades. Also, is there a problem with
plugging composite output into a monochrome monitor (it's not TTL, in case
you're worried :-)
Thanks,

1) In which order should I concat the files? (mine are labeled U2-U7,
not Lo/Hi 0-1-2)
2) What would I have to do to the machine itself to make it work
with a 6 chip set?
3) What is the little flipflop hack added onto the processor for?
Please E-mail any help since I can only read news about once a week...
I'll summarize if there is a request.

Glad to hear you're running ok, but your previous paragraph implies a
badly incorrect assumption. FOLDERxxx doesn't stop being useful when
you go to versions of TOS above 1.2. I'm not positive, but I'm pretty
sure it can even be used on TOS 3.x machines.
Any time you suddenly start getting wierd disk results after using
your machine for a long time under any version of TOS, you might want to
consider installing FOLDERxxx or upping the number of folders it's set
for (increasing the xxx).

If you use the "CD" (change directory) Flash command, there's a very
obscure bug you might be running into. If you have any CD commands
where you include both a disk id and a directory, you might try
splitting them up into two calls.
Example:
>CD d:\flash\scripts
Change to:
>CD d:
>CD \flash\scripts
Hope this helps....

Perhaps you have a Virus, since that is not normal behaviour for an ST.
At least I've never heard of anything like that happening. Before you
upgrade, get a good virus locator and check all your disks. If you don't
have a Virus, I'm not sure what is wrong. I hope this helps you out a
little.

Subject: Super Charger 286?
To: Info-Atari16@naucse.cse.nau.edu
Well, Bobie boy, you're almost right. Certainly an IBM emulator on
an Atari is not going to be 100% compatible, but neither would an
XT system. More and more software companies are finally getting
the picture and beginning to write software that will only run on 386
systems. OS/2 version 2.0 is one example. QEMM 386 is another.
These packages will not run on an XT. Sure there's software out there
right now, but the days of the 8088/86 chips are certainly numbered.
If someone has an ST system with a color monitor and a harddisk
already, all it would cost them to get the original SuperCharger
is $400. This would be a system that was pretty darned compatible,
had color graphics and a harddisk. To get the same kind of price
for a comparable "IBM compatible", either you would have to buy
used equipment, or sell your Atari. With the first option you
end up with two computers, and the second you end up with only one.
I'd take the first option any day. Now if someone has your basic
monochrome ST system with just a floppy disk, they'd be better off
going out and buying a real "IBM compatible", instead of purchasing
something like SuperCharger. The IBM emulators are designed to be
attractive to Atari users who already have everything they need
except an 80x86 chip.

I don't agree with you. Here in NY, you can buy an XT laptop
with 640K RAM and 2 floppies for $399 and for about $300 more
you can get a 286 laptop with a hardrive. If I had any real
need to use a MS-DOS machine I would probably opt to buy one
of these machines rather than deal with all the hassles of putting
one of these "sorta compatible" boards in an ST. The cost is
almost the same so why bother hacking up your ST?

Absolutely, completely and transparently, with absolute and total
mouse control and cursor display. As John says, read the manual.
Prior to NeoDesk and the other shells, I used to run all of my
favorite programs from Flash. I would dedicate a function key for
WordPerfect, another for Vip Professional, another for Joust (gotta have
a game), etc.
It was and in many ways, still great. Lots of neat treasures in
that manual. It is a bit of detective work, but the commands are there
