Hi!
The version of CrackArt at atari.archive is able to get images from the
memory and save them as pictures.
There is a new version of CrackArt!! Some functions have been added:
- you can search for images in memory and/or disk.
- there is an extra program (for the boot-sector) which is a "snapper"
for game-pictures. Simply put it in the boot-sector, reboot, start your
programm and now you can save the memory with a key (or just look at it).
- some graphic routines are optimized (especially for the TT)
To get the new version write to the authors (adresses are in the archive).
An english doc is still not avaible (but if some people give the donation
of 20.- DM to the authors they are willing to tranalate the docs....)
Bye,
Wolfgang.

I am just starting up with C programming on the ST.
I borrowed the book "Applications guide: programming in C, for the ST" by
compute! books.
I'm trying to use Sozobon 1.33i with it. I'm trying to get a gem library
up and going but no luck, nothing compiles.
all gemdefs.h and obdefs.h have been changed to gemfast.h .
but the cc compiler gives me crap on most of the lines, even though they are
verbatim from the book.
so basically, Does anyone have a C Gem library? does AA have one?
secondly, Where could i find source code for playing back standard sounds?
(maybe the source to keyclick.ttp?)
thanks!

You should be able to put 4 meg in with various boards or hacking.

Well TOS 2.06 is out but requires an adapter board for STs. 1.4 is still
good.1.6 is for STE.

Yes it has been done though I do not know of a kit to do it.You could
get most of the stuff you need from BESt Electronics.

Toad computers has a switch box.Making one is not that difficult. The
orginal NEC multisync will not work I have heard.

If you have the spot on your mother board you probably can .need to
buy blitter,socket and 74ls part.TOS 1.2 is 1.0 for blitter though
you may not have it.

Once netter asked why I recommended putting GDOS and G+Plus after Multi-
GEM in the AUTO folder. Quite simply, my system crashed when I put either
one before MultiGEM. My general experience with G+Plus is that it is
very fusy about where it goes in the AUTO folder.
BTW, for Mac enthusiasts who may point the finger about AUTO folder
ordersensitivity; I could relate a story on INIT conflicts that would
make the hair stand up on your neck! However, it would take a half hour
to type up!

It is this sort of arrogance that annoys me.
People want to use Calamus in the real world. This means that we may want to
send our output to printers at work / school or use a typesetter at a
bureau.
Calamus' page description language may be superior to PostScript, but
everyone else actually _uses_ PostScript.
For this reason, we need proper PostScript on a disk. Telling us that
Calamus direct output is better is no good.

Subject: public domain/share ware prog. to convert *.img to *.mac?
To: Info-Atari16@naucse.cse.nau.edu
Hello:
I have a bunch of clip art files that I would like to use on my
Macintosh. I got them from FTPing an Atari site.
Host terminator.cc.umich.edu (141.211.164.8)
Location: /atari/applications/dtp/clipart
FILE rw-r--r-- 535224 Oct 24 20:56 clipart1.zoo
.... nine files ...
The zoo files are full of "*.img" files. I don't know anything about
the img format so I went to the comp.sys.atari.st news group, found
the Welcome document, and it directed me to the picfmts.doc file.
There I found the img format and its name "GEM". But before I set out
to write a converter, I would like to know if one already exists?
As I said, I would like to have some clip art for my Mac, and this was
the only collection I could find. So I need to convert the img
format into somthing I'm used to working with (ie. have the tools
to work with ;-)
Do you know of any application that will run on UNIX, IBM/DOS, or Macintosh
6.0x, to convert GEM img files to Macpaint, GIF, PICT, or anything else?
Thank you for your time.

Since you're just starting out with C, you're probably not going to
want to have a go at playing back digitized sounds just yet -- it's
fairly tricky and involves assembly language.
Just in case, though, assembly source to play digitized sounds
is in atari/sound/players/resound.arc on atari.archive. The method
used is basically the same as in Digital Keyclick.

I'm considering the purchase of an Atari STE so that I can easily
upgrade to 4 megs of ram, plus blitter stuff etc, but I am worried about
my Mark Williams C package. I've heard that MWC will not work on TOS
versions 1.04 and above. Is this true? Has anyone tried to use MWC from
hard disk with an STE? It's crucial that I find out before making my
purchase, so please give any information if you can!
Any comments much appreciated!

The problem is known: This is not due to the high resolution or the Epson
driver, it's a bug in the Star firmware.
Christoph Strunk, the author of the CS-TeX package, knows about this. I don't
quite remember what the fix was but it will be mentioned in the forthcoming
new version of CS-TeX. I will post here the moment the new version is out.
Also, I will ask Christoph what exactly the bug is about. I will post this
information here as well.

Btw, I couldn't find the kaos desktop replacement at a.a, so I got it
