To everyone interested in purchasing my computer system:
Well, after all these negoations, would it really piss you off if I sold it
all to someone else? I have a guy here in Columbus willing to pay me $2800 for
the entire system, which is about $600 more than I've managed to get across the
net. It would also save me TONS of work and money shipping everything. I'm not
rich enough to turn down $600 even if I do piss off a bunch of generally pretty
cool guys in the process. I feel really bad about this because I know you guys
put a lot of work into deciding what you wanted, how much you can pay, etc. I
hope you can understand my end of things as well. One advantage is that I'll
have enough cash to buy and older Atari, as well as what I had planned to get
(a powerbook), and will probably stick around the net, if you all don't kill me
of course. If anyone has actually sent me a payment yet, let me know right away
and we can figure something out (I'll reimburse you for costs if necessary).
By the way, you really should read my cool .sig file ;-)

Have you considered how large a window containing the entire character set
would have to be. You could scale it down ad infinitum of course, but to be
able to accurately "type" on it there would be limits, and I think it would be
pretty big. Kind of makes it difficult to see the application you're using!

Oh, I don't know - how about this:

ie, just one display of the keyboard. When the shift button is clicked, all
the other keys change to their shifted values. Same with alt and ctrl.
Maybe one extra key [ctrl character] which pops up a keypad to allow people
to enter control characters by number.

On the level where the knights become a serious problem for the first time,
there is an invisible barrier that you can cross (but the monsters cannot).
They can still shoot stuff at you though. Anyway, you lead the monsters
to this barrier, then bash them for awhile, step sideways and sleep to
rebuild your strength, then do it over again. This will get rid of them
without too much trouble.
The best maps and spell chart I have seen are from the Current Notes PD
library. They are all on one disk. Costs about $3 as I remember.

Oh, as a follow up, I tried to talk this guy into buying everything that was
left, but he whats it all as is, period. I'm still trying to talk him out of
one of the drives because there is a guy going to drive down from the Toledo
area to pick it up on Saturday. At any rate, I hope none of you know where I
live... (I envision broken glass and bricks with notes that say "I hope this
landed on your powerbook you slime"). As I said before, I'll reimburse anyone
for the cost of their money order and stamps. At any rate, if I pick up an old
ST I'll stick around on this newsgroup which will give you all lots of time to
publically humilate me for my business practices. Hey, it's a difference of
$600, what would you do?
Look, basically I feel REALLY REALLY bad about this already.
Check out the January issue of PUBLISH, has a VERY LITTLE article about the
Atari TT in it!

There is no blitter in the TT's. (But there is in the new ST Book.)
The 030 is faster than the blitter chip.

read in that directory. The line you've posted is from the
ls-lR file, isn't it? In /pub/atari/cli I found OKAMI12.LZH,
but I prefer the newer version. I'll write admin of forwiss...
to get some informations.

The file is there and I have got it over to my account now, however it's
all German doc.s and probably the program is German based so have not
transfer it to a.a.u.e., if there is a demand for it eventhough it's
in German then I'll glad to send it to a.a.u.e.

You wanted to know, if the PC-Ditto will run with a 68030 processor.
We tried to start PC-Ditto with an Atari TT, but it does not run.
Some test with St-machines with a 68030 or 68040 processor have shown
that it is not possible to start PC-Ditto. Perhaps some timing-problems
with the program-interrupts, maybe the use of illegal traps an wrong
adressing.

You should UUDecode the files with the Atari UUD utility (which is available
from comp.binaries.atari.st), but NOT with U**x's uudecode.
Run UUD passing it 'scsrc20.uaa'. The other files (.uab - .uag) will be
included automatically by UUD. The result is scsrc20.lzh, which can be
extracted by Lharc 1.13 (I think) or newer :-) .
Mail me if you want to get a working Atari UUD.

I am a knowledgable software engineer but I lack knowledge in actual working
hardware design.
Well I just bought a 60 Meg Supra hard drive, and I want to connect it to
my Supra 20 Meg hard drive. But the Supra Drive I have doesn't have any
Atari DMA plugs on it. It does have a 25 pin D connector though. Does
anyone know how to or know of a document that describe how to daisy chain
supra hard drives. Both of these drives have their own complete set of
adapters which lets each drive be plugged directly into the Atari DMA
port. My problem is in trying to make the two work together. I really
(greedily) desire to have the 80 Megs. My other option is to sell the
20 Meg drive; which I do not want to do.
By the way TeX people should be happy in about 3 weeks. When I get my
60 Meg Supra drive (It's currently being shipped) I am going to configure
Atari ST TeX twice using two different configurations. Then my FINAL copy
of the TeX installation guide will appear *WITH* references to those much
too helpful people who assisted.

I posted a releated message to a bitnet-server (atarst-l) but never got
an answer. So here's again:
I like to know something about the ethernet-interface of the TT.
First, is it AUI or BNC?
Then I must know, what software exists to integrate this machine into
our LAN? We currently can support DECNET, LAT and TCP/IP. We're running
several hosts in our net, as several VMS-Clusters, some AIX-machines, some
ULTRIX, some SUN-OS and IRIX (or IRIS)-stuff. But some clients want to
integrate the atari as well.
Has anybody done that before ?

While this is true, it is usually not too long before someone else ports the
GNU stuff over to the Mac platform since the source is free. Most of the
major GNU tools and many minor ones are indeed available on the Mac.
