There have been some comments recently about potential damage resulting from
the use of screen savers that change the screen to all black. Could someone
please explain this? I thought the idea of a screen saver was to preserve
the phosphorous by displaying nothing when the machine is not in use.

I've been using Moshe Braner's (sp?) Idle 1.2 for about 2 years now on a
1040ST with a SM124 (monchrome) monitor and have noticed no ill effects.
Am I slowly killing my monitor??

Ref: Key Pad problems

I have the same problem when using TINCAN V3.0 with IBM mainframe to logon
to BITNET all PF keys do not work at all. I am now stop logon under Spectre
Macintosh mode but using the program called PC INTERCOM. It is quite an old pro
gram but allowing me to config Atari function key to put in my Account No, Pass
word, and other command wich saving a lot of time than keying them in every
time. Only drawback is that this program does not have PCTRANS file transfer
protocol. It got kermit though. I use Kermit to tranfer all Atari files to my
computer. As for the Mac program I will log on with PC Intercom and set every
thing ready for file transfer then quit PC Intercom while still online. Switch
to Spectre and run TINCAN to download Mac program with PCTRANS protocol. It
save time from using Transverter to convert to MFS format. I can just BINHEX it
and unstuff. I also have not try to config PF key for the RedRyder but seems
that many netters are using this Program. Suthipuntha, School of Architecture

REF: Hard disk Miniformatter

Hello H. C. Johnson,
Sorry to post it here but I hve tried sending 2 messages to yours both new and
old address but my mails were returned. I can't directly reach you from Sing-
apore. I am another one who have problem with corrupted HD partition under
Spectre. I shall be most grateful if you will kindly email your MINIHDX, MKFS,
and FSCK.PRGs to me too. I hope that I am not too demanding or greedy.

Another thing occur to me is that would the DISK EXPRESS 1.05 cause any problem
with Spectre HD partition? I use it several time and some time its refused to
verify the partition. Some time it corrupted the desktop and I cannot rebuild
the desktop again. Is it save to use this program? Thanks in advance,

pc ditto II supports CGA, Hercules, Hercules(640x400), ATT and PC monochrome.

>Does it read atari joystick ports?
the Atari-Mouse and the serial PC-Mouse are supported by pc-ditto II

>Is there going to be a PC Ditto III in the near future?
I think: NO!

I have a better solution:
Look at your map and choose the way , which is safe.
Beside you can try to chat a little about cultur, society, and logic with
the native. Although it might be boring only to hear always 'yes' or 'no'.

Please stop by a meeting of the Atari Computer Owners of Rochester, NY.
You will see a group of dedicated Atari owners teaching newcomers how
to use their machines, a groups of users talking about the latest
Atari "gossip", demos of the newest programs, talks by developers, dealers,
and "experts", and, NO PIRACY!

Our club, as do many other groups, has a strict policy against software piracy
in any form. Swapping of commercial software is prohibited at our meetings
and on our bbs.

You will never see an "orgy of software piracy" at an ACORN meeting.
