You might try 'dsmall@well.uucp' instead.....

I am using Flash v1.6, and recently aquired a modem that will give the
response "busy" when the line I am calling is engaged. There seems to
be a problem with Flash though, in that when it gets the word "busy"
back from the modem, it still remains in dialing mode. I have to click
the modem a couple of times to get it out of that mode.
I have updated my dial menu and saved the configuration, for the word
"busy" (as well as others), so that isn't it. The only clue I have is
that it seems to temporarily cure itself when I replace the Flash.cfg
(or whatever the Flash configuration file is called?) with my Flash.cfg
file off my original Flash disk. This only seems to work temporarily
though. Any ideas?

I just have a couple of questions about GCR.
Will MircoSoft Word work with the GCR?
And, even more important than that:
Will Micro League Baseball II (For the Mac, not atari) run under GCR?

Dear netters,
i downloaded bstat and opus from prog-a16@uoguelph. In the Bstat file
the gwbasro.prg was corrupted and when i used my gwbasro from gwbasic3.0
i wouldn't run cause of a bus-error. I couldn't look into the file with
gwbasic.prg. With opus i tried to make charts and used the gdos which
came with the gemini shell. I run the assigner and it was well though
i didn't see what the program did. The fontwidth.prg wouldn't run. When
i had the line 21 text in the assign.sys i stopped with error in font,
when i had 21p in it stopped without message. With 21r gdos wouldn't
load, telling me it couldn't find fontfiles. Has anyone an idea?
Sincerly

Most ST magazines advertise mouses for the ST. I've only seen a
couple, so your selection is not great. There is a cordless mouse for
the ST and the Amiga.

Hi,
Can anyone tell me anything about those MONITERM monitors?
What are they like?
How much are they?
Where can I get one?
etc etc
Thanks,
Paul

Well, I can recommend a good place to buy one (for that matter, any Atari
equipment). It is the Computer Garden, phone 1-800-456-5689. Bob (the
owner), unpacks and tests every piece of Atari equipment he sells (he is a
registered Atari repair guy). I have bought my entire system from him, and
I have never had a problem. I think his price is about $150 for a mono, and
he aligns them if they need it before he sends them out. He might have some
cheaper ones that don't meet his 100% spec. It is comforting to know that if
any of my stuff breaks down, I can send it to HIM (not some unknown person)
and get it fixed. I am in no way connected with him or his store, other than
being a very satisfied customer.

Is there any reason that all of the programs for transferring files
between the Portfolio and and ST seem to use the serial interface? I
unfortunately had to purchase the parallel interface for use with my IBM
at work. I'd love to use the built in Portfolio transfer software to
transfer data files to my ST, but haven't seen anything out from Atari
for the ST, that will allow the transfer? THe only programs I have seen
seem to be PD programs using the serial interface. Is Atari coming out
with a program for the ST? Unless there is some technical problem, I
think it would be of great benefit to the users.

Subject: Rumors

I second Larry Rymal's motion to suppress rumors. When I hear a rumor I ask for
chapter and verse from primary sources. If folks on the net want to post
messages
es about viruses in software let them post messages about ones they have
personally seen. The ST market has been lucky in this regard, I suspect that
it is because the market is too small to attract the really competent virus
mecahnics. George Woodside may be another factor because he works hard to
keep them under control.

None of this keeps me from being really paranoid. I have invested close to
$2000 in backup technology so that when the day comes when I have to rebuild
everything I will be able to do so.

Well, the latest problem I've had with Word Perfect ST has to do with
indenting. It just isn't indenting a paragraph properly, unless I make
the settings and then go in and backspace a few times - suddenly it
works. Second, I put in a few extra tab settings and a minute later find
that they have been reset to default settings. Sometimes this happens
immediately after tabbing once, sometimes a little later. I can't get my
settings to stick. Since I am in the middle of formatting a rather long
document, these idiosyncracies are driving me absolutely bananas.

I live in Murfreesboro, Tn. We have an Atari user group in Knoxville that
doesn't do anything other than help new users, sell PD disks, provide latest
Atari info,etc... You can't judge all Atari groups bad because you saw one
groupcopying software!!! Come on! What's the matter with you??

I just want to say that i've had my ST for 1 1/2 years. (1040STf) I write alot
of source code and i've used many different editors, but i've never come across
the phontom typist. I also see that someone had it happen in Flash, i've used
that also with no problems.. I'm not sure what TOS version I have, but I will
post a followup about that. Any ideas? Why doesn't this happen to me?
