WARNING: The articles in this thread, so far, have been cross-posted
between both groups. We haven't had a stupid Amiga/Atari flame war in
nearly 2 years now... and here we go again.
PLEASE: DO NOT POST INTO A GROUP YOU DO NOT READ. Just because some
other idiot cross-posted and got some details wrong does not mean you
have to correct him in public. Send EMAIL. Do not continue the flame
war.
Thank you.
p.s. not trying to flame you personally, Logan, just trying to pass on
a general suggestion.

Hey, sorry Amiga users... I think one of the problems here is that
some of us (stupid unix users), didn't realize that since the first
message is crossposted, using f to followup or whatever also cross
posts your response.
Let's quit, the guy just wanted to get a computer, e-mail him.
(I know, I started some of it...)

P.S. Thanks for the 80+ messages in my mailbox, makes me feel wanted.

One other consideration you should have in choosing which
computer to buy: which one is selling? The Amiga is selling very well,
and sales are only increasing. Atari has had to continuously drop
their prices to make their machines sell. Yes, you'll get a cheaper
machine, but IMHO at least it won't be well supported a year from now.
Maybe the STacy and the TTs (whenever they come out) will change
things, but I doubt it.

Does anyone know any more about this? ie difficulty and where to get the docs
on it? Since there aren't any software emulators that are fast enough to be
usable, this could be the answer to my prayers.

Yes it works with TOS 1.4 !
I use AHDI 3.01 with one MEGAFILE44 with one extra buildin 105MByte SCSI Hard-
Disk. My MEGAFILE-Cardridges are formatted with four Partitions 11-11-11-11.
(512 Bytes per Sector).
The 105MByte Disk is partitioned 27-26-26-26 (1024 Bytes per Sector).
Please use Getbpb() before Rwabs() !!!

The only docs I know of are found in the book "The Icon Programming Language",
although there was an article in Computer Language in late 86 (by the same
authors - Sorry, I can't recall the spelling just now, but it's the same folks
who put together SNOBOL4....Greenwald? Groenwald? The book should be available
in any University library.
... 5 minutes later ...
Oh! I do have the authors' name here - Ralph E. and Madge T. Griswold; no
wonder I was screwing up the spelling. The book is published by Prentice-
Hall. A pretty good book, paperback so not too expensive - and the language
itself is pretty neat.
Hope this helps.

I have written a streaming backup program that talks SCSI to the Adpatec
Streaming Tape interface. The hardware and the program work well for
me.
The next step is to integrated it with Atari's METADOS, if they ever
release it. This would allow access using Fopen, Fread, etc.
This software has been distributed to several people privately.
Send mail, and if the mailers permit I will make it available on a direct
mail basis.

I have upgraded my MEGA 2ST to 4MB.
I think it is an good idea to put also a condensator near each RAM between
0 and 5V. The printed-circuit-board is prepared for this.
I also had to add three resistors (33 Ohm).
Those resistors are for the RAS and CAS pins of the second memory bank.
