Subject: Seperate Keyboard and CPU
I am planning on butchering my old 1040 into the standard seperate
keyboard and CPU to allow more space for expansion and the added
convenience of a detachable keyboard. I wish to use a 150W power supply
that are sold to power IBM clones. Are the connections for the ST supply
the same as the ones for IBM clones? If not is it possible to change
the connections so this can work?

Ctrl-C doesn't generate any special interrupt. The behavior of Ctrl-C
resides in the GEMDOS Cconin and Cconout routines. Thus, you can only
use Ctrl-C to terminate a program while it is reading or writing the
console.

The manual for MT C Shell says there is full screen command-line editing.
It sounds pretty good. I haven't seen it yet, because the disk I received
was bad. The description of the built-in commands reads just like the BSD
C-Shell man page; most of the features are there. Unfortunately, unlike
the BSD shell, looping constructs are only usable in scripts. (So much for
aliases & such that do foreach and while loops...)
Meanwhile... Ctrl-C and Ctrl-Z are handled by the tty driver in Unix.
The MT C Shell manual makes no mention of using any special tty driver
with RTX. Wish I could run it right now and find out... (The disk is in
the mail?

Like most printers, the Diablo emulator for the SLM804 accepts a variety
of escape sequences to control various functions. The sequence
ESC, SO, d
selects font "d", where d is an ASCII decimal digit. Here ESC is
ASCII code 27 and SO is ASCII code 14. Thus, the decimal codes to
select the font in slot 3 are:
27, 14, 51
(since 51 is the ASCII code for '3'). Many other escape sequences are
supported. Consult your manual for details.

You should have received a manual with your printer. You'll need it
when time comes to add toner, change drums, clean fuser rollers, and
so forth. There isn't much to "control" with a laser printer; basically
you feed it with paper and run appropriate software. There IS a lot that
can be controlled with the Diablo emulator software---you do this with two
programs: SETUP630.PRG and SETUP630.ACC. They take the place of the
front panel switches found on other printers. If you don't have these,
you will need to get them.

Yes, seen. If I get my 4MB in the next days, I'll tell you, whether
it works.
As maybe already mentioned, there is a special price for students
and universities for Smalltalk-80 from ParcPlaceSystems at Georg
Heeg at Unido. The normal distribution is about DM 400,-. I do not
know, whether he is allowed to distribute it outside Germany.

i dont know about dvist, but a new version of Robert Stabl's showdvi (v 0.80)
is available for FTP on dsrgsun.ces.cwru.edu in
pub/atari/StTeX/showdvi-0.80.zoo. this version will run on color too.
besides this change, the new version has lots of new features, is
much more flexible in terms of setup, options etc. IMHO showdvi is the
best dvi previewer for the St, commercial or otherwise. kudos to
Robert Stabl and Georg Hessman for the great job they have done with
showdvi/flib/dviprint.
PS: if you get showdvi for the first time, please pick up showdvifonts.zoo
(the font libraries) from dsrgsun too. if you already have the font
libraries (from the comp.binaries.atari.st posting of the earlier
version of showdvi, or from dsrgsun), before you use the new version
of showdvi, you will need to convert the font libraries into the new format.
to do this run ``flib -z <library>'' (using the new version of flib.ttp,
also in showdvi-0.80.zoo).
PPS: showdvi-0.80.zoo also contains flib.c, that can be compiled on a
unix host too, making it convenient to make font libraries on your
unix host, if you run MFont there.

Hi, can someone please tell me what intel processor does the supercharger
uses, is it 286? Also, can someone please send me a 24-pin printer driver
for the EPSON LQ500 and LQ510? I have the printer driver for LQ800 but
not the ones above. I am asking this for a friend.
