I am about to do the big screen (cheap-o german) modification
for my 1040. I have 2 questions...

1) Has anyone done it and have comments?
2) Is overscn2.arc at terminator the latest in the overscan
software? I checked panarthea and they only have
a version way back in volume5 binaries and volume 2
binaries...

Thanks for any info. It is much appreciated.

I hear it, but I want the facts. Where do you get it and what does it
need to run (especially how much memory - 1meg,2,2.5,or the whole 4megs).
thanks

P.S. I know I posted needlessly on the Magnavox monitor too, but keep
it down to a dull roar guys (fist fights outside the net). Email is
the best way to do your heated name calling. RBPIII

It requires at least 2 megs -- this fact as already been posted to the net
nearly every day, but the real question is WHY does it require SO MUCH memory?!
I'd really like an answer to that question.

I'd like it to be either RLL or SCSI!
Also who'd have the best price *8~)

If you would care to, you could send a drive to me and I'd check out the

possibility of it working. My address:

I think you'll have to homebrew it; most any host should work but likely

an SCSI-E

Read "The Cuckoo's Egg" not only for a really good story about
computer hacking (invading military computers for the Soviets) but also
to see how little the FBI and CIA care about such things. Telling the
FBI that there is piracy in a computer club will go absolutely nowhere.
Tell the manufacturers of the products involved.

I've heard that you can use SIMs to upgrade the STE. Has anyone tried
using IBM SIMs (and just ignoring the extra bit), or do they have to be
Mac SIMs. How fast should they be? I'm sure that it would be useful to
everyone if you posted a response to this newsgroup, but I would also
appreciate any private responses (much faster for me). Please reply to:

meggin@vm.epas.utoronto.ca (BITNET)

Thanks. I'm considering buying an STE next week, and I need to know.

I heard somewhere (mistakenly or otherwise) that it was possible to
format a Supra 20 Meg Hard Drive to 30 Meg? I could sure use the extra
space if it works, and would appreciate any comments from others who
have tried it.

The aug. 89 version is the latest Word Perfect for the ST that I've
heard of ..... Oh, it just occurred to me that you're thinking of what
WP called their "update." It allows the use of alternate file selectors
such as UIS, gives a word count during spell checking, and has a Page
Preview option. Call WP for it.
