This includes shipping within the continental US. Foreign orders may
cost more due to shipping charges, although I have already shipped one
off to Germany.

Subject: CONNER CP3500F HARD DISK

Hello from Singapore,

Could any one be kind enough to tell me how can I disable the SCSI parity
on the Conner CP3500F, 200MB hard disk. There is no jumper on this one and
the drive comes with SCSI parity enabled from factory. On the 100MB Conner,
there are 2 pins that I can put the jumper on to disable SCSI parity.

ICD host adapter requires the Hard disk with SCSI disabled. Is it possible to
modify the ICD card to accept the SCSI parity enabled hard disk?

Any advise would be most appreciated.

I have been a 'developer' for about 4 years and I received my last news letter
from Atari Canada about 3 years ago. I have always had to phone in about
once every two months to find out if there were any new updates to either
MadMac, Aln, Db, or the DevDocs. The last update to MadMac I have I think
is 1.05 (or is it 1.13). It would be nice if they could even send us a
bi-annual newsletter saying something like -- Hi guys, this is Eddy, your...
Atari Germany seems to talk to their people, some of us lucky ones have
net access and so can ask questions of Allan and Ken, but why do individual
Canadian developers have to look outside of Canada for help?

Subject: GCR autoboot problem
Message-ID: <1990May8.123255.26586@cs.dal.ca>

I've just gotten a Spectre GCR and have run into an exasperating problem
trying to get a partition of my Supra 60 Meg HD to autoboot. It will
autoload OK, but although I have tried several different system/finder
sets, and also used the System 6.0 install procedure, it absolutely
refuses to boot from anything but a floppy. It starts off with a smily
face, but then turns it off and requires the floppy.

There are no other System files on the HD, and I have only one Spectre
partition (16 Meg). I played a bit with the SCSI unit on the startup
menu (in Spectre), but don't know whether I can fix the problem that way.

One thing that may be a factor is that I didn't have an up-to-date
system when I started loading the hard drive, so the System folder was
not the first item on the partition -- is that a factor? I don't want
to go through the hassle of reformatting and starting from scratch
unless it is necessary.

I have version 2.65 of the Spectre software. All the manual says on
this problem is that "If the boot fails... assume the HD is damaged."
Since this is the only problem I have encountered with this HD, is there
a better diagnostic?!

Help greatly appreciated. It is frustrating sitting there with a 19 ms HD
watching the boot floppy spin endlessly every time I try to do anything!

I am posting this for a friend and I personally have no experience with
the Atari ST. So, please send responses via e-mail to:

mck@beach.cis.ufl.edu

Also, please form your responses so that even a Macintosh person can
understand it (I'm showing my bias).

Anyway, my friend wants to know if a Quantum 105Meg drive for a Macintosh
can be used in an Atari ST since they both have SCSI interfaces? If it
can be done, what needs to be altered (i.e. connectors, cables, etc.)

If there is an easier route, what suppliers would give a good price on a
105Meg HD (Quantum prefered) for the Atari ST. I'm looking for minimal
effort on installation. Also, I need a response as soon as possible as
my friend is leaving for Italy in a couple of weeks.

Thanks in advance.

Mark

Actually this mail should have got through to Steven Klassen regarding the
program pscapt.arc on terminator. As I can't find this file on terminator
(35.1.33.8)? and don't have a correct mail address of Steven I am addressing
my request to the net.

I would appreciate if Steven or someone else could send the program
pscapt.arc (arced or uuencoded) via email to me. This would be really
great!

Does this ever happen in Tempus II? Is this bug fixable?

You have to make sure that there is enough memory to run Zmodem (or any
other program) from Uniterm. By default Uniterm takes almost all memory for
its buffers. Just make the buffers smaller until you have a fair amount of
TOS memory left.
