I have an ICD host adaptor with an Adaptec 4070 controller and
a Seagate 277R-1 (?) 28ms 65meg RLL hard drive. My problem is I keep
getting a <SENSE $11> code. No bad sectors, no data errors, just the
sense $11. It happens on maybe one or two tracks on two (out of five)
partitions, but it makes me wonder if something might be wrong.
Incidentally, it's always in the same place, so that rules out
cable errors or such. Anyone know what this means? The Adaptec 4070
manual says something about an "unrecoverable data field error" or some
such nonsense, but I have yet to lose any data whatsoever, even after
performing repeated read-write-verify cycles on some of the sectors in
question.
BTW, why are all the tracks initialized to "lllllllll"...?

I'd keep cash payments in dollars only. It is very difficult for the
average Joe here in the US to either get foreign cash or to change it --
unlike in Europe, where every bank will do both buy and sell foreign
currency. Only the bigger banks, airports, big-city banks will buy and
sell foreign curency in the US (my experience in the Boston area)
without a lot of hassle.

I to would be very interested in a plotting program, especially with
.GEM and .IMG output - so as to allow importing into TeX documents.

Along the same thread, does anyone have the sourcecode for starstrk?
It's nice, but the effect of the stars "slowing down" near the edge of the
screen (actually they don't; they just don't speed up) is a little weird,
and I'd like to modify it if possible.

I searched long and hard for a *good* terminal desk accessory. MiniTerm 9.32
seems to do the job. It has very good vt100 emulation, allows for x/y/zmodem
uploads and downloads, cursor positioning with the mouse, function key assign-
ment, dialing menu and the configuration is performed by use of an editable
resource file. I have used this program in conjunction with the MULTRAN
background downloader and it makes for an excellent combo. Just pop up to
MiniTerm, start the download, then exit and invoke MULTRAN to download and
continue with what you were doing while it downloads. It has a couple dis-
advantages though: you must have a zmodem program to perform zmodem transfers
and it does not run in a window; it just takes over the screen. I think you
can get this one from GEnie or FTP, but I can't quite remember where I got
it from - my brain is toast.

The above address (stailey@iris613.gsfc.nasa.gov) is the correct one.
