I very much *doubt* that. And by whom? "Oh Mr. DA, I run a BBS full
of illegally copied software, and this guy planted a worm and
formatted my drive..."

Yeah, right. Actually, I would rather get some friends of mine, the
torpedo twins, Guido and Tony, to format their system.

That would probably be more effective, as pirates have backups of
software, but not many pirates have backups of their faces...

Yeah, I'd like to see some dweeb bithead who doesn't have a life
file a complaint against someone who "persuades" them not to post
copyright software.

[remarks about my remarks about forms handling ... ]

You are right; I meant form_dial(). The application will not receive a
WM_REDRAW message for handle 0 (desktop). For this reason I usually open a
window which covers the entire desktop work area when I am "drawing directly
on the desktop". Since there is only one window, and it doesn't have any
sliders, movers, or other such nasty stuff, it isn't very difficult to deal
with. The only way I can think of to intercept the desktop redraw is to create
your own desktop object and declare it via wind_set(WF_NEWTOP, ... ). I can't
say that I have ever tried this, but I suspect that it would be more difficult
than opening a big window.

I have recently reviewed some of the information about the ST port of
GNU C and am *extremely* impressed! I'd like to use the package soon,
but I would prefer to write and compile my code on a Sun, then transfer
the binaries over to my ST later.

How difficult would this be? Will the package compile normally on the
standard Sun C compiler? Any help would be appreciated.

If possible, send me mail directly (to MCCABE@MTUS5.BITNET) since I don't
get the chance to read these groups as often as I like...

I sent my order in around September 2. A copy of my order form was packed with
my board and had a number 643 written on it. That probably was my number in
the queue for my order. (I don't remember the exact number but it was in the
mid-600's.) AG encountered problems of their boards not working on all STs
due to differences in timing between machines. They have a 2-chip fix for it,
and maybe they will install it on yours before they ship it. That could save
you some time.

I have a 520ST
with 1 meg and it was quite a job getting it to fit. I had to cut the center
post off the ST case so I could install it without interfering with the
keyboard electronics. It does fix but takes some creativity and determination
to find the right spot. If it works as well as PCditto I only faster, I will
be extremely happy.

Does anyone have any comparisons on small personal finance programs?
I would like to go for Phasar for the ST, but Quicken has received rave
reviews, and more importantly is half the price of Phasar. If I get
Quicken I would run it under PC-DITTO. (Interface isn't too bad
either. I think they are using the C-Worthy library).

I am very interested. Please send me a copy, I can attempt to post it to
the binaries group for you (if I can?!?).

I picked up the sharware article on building a digitzer(sound) for the MAC
published and designed by the SID Trio, and its relatively cheap(20$)
I have been goosing about cartridge port projects and I think this is perfect.
Anyone care to adapt this to an ST??
I'd really like to do some sound digitizing but The STREplay cartridge price
doesn't warrant it.
anyone have a design+software worth gabbing about??

Well its worth a try

You're using SuperCharger? Did you purchase it in the U.S.? If so, when and
what did you pay? Could you comment on its features, installation (DMA port
plug-in?), documentation etc. Are you daisy-chaining it off the DMA port? If
so, what are the restrictions? Have you used other PC emulators? How does it
compare? I know it's available in Europe. The last I heard from Talon
Technologies it was supposed to go through FCC testing in February 90.

OK, I'm sure this has been answered before in this newsgroup, so please forgive
me. (I only got my ST 4 days ago) Anyway, I was going to ftp some stuff from
wuarchive.wustl.edu and I noticed that all the archives ended with a .Z
extender. What do I need to unarc these type files? (I've got ARC and ZOO).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
