wow, I had no idea this group was so active!! anyway, I got an old 520ST
with 1 meg and a plug in double sided drive for $200 to run my $200 RC
flight simulator.. but this RGB connector on the ST is funny.. does
any one know the pin outs, line levels, or even where to get one of
these connectors so I can attach my old IBM CGA color monitor to it??
Better yet, a turn key cable made by some one would be even better.
Pls send me mail. Thanks.

Could some kind soul mail me a copy of booz? I have had the zoo
binaries for some time but as they are cleverly compacted using
zoo itself, I have not been able to do anything with them.
Thanks.

Well, I read the Prospero newsletters whenever we get them here, and they
claim all the GEM docs were written from hands-on use. That is, they ignored
the DRI docs.

It's not shipping yet, and is still in beta test. Some figures from a
commercial company suggested about a 30% speed improvement, and about 20% code
size improvement. Your milage may vary (I've always wanted to say that!)

The documentation is excellent. The distinction is between GEM Versions 1.1
(ATARI) and 2.0. Both GEM 1.1 and 2.0 AES/VDI bindings are described in detail.
The documentation clearly states 1.1 and 2.0 features of a particular
bindings or whether the function is new for V2.

I was wondering if someone could tell me the net address of the developers
forum on USENET, or even if one exists. I am a registered developer, but I
don't have access to the forums on GENIE, etc... because of restrictions placed
upon me by my own organization. BITNET/USENET/INTERNET etc... are therefore
my only link with the developer forum and program areas. Can anyone help?

Message-ID: <90022123012218@masnet.uucp>
I'm sure a few have caught the error in my posting some days ago
regarding the use of GDOS fonts. In my original posting, I'd stated that
the function used to select a font, vst_font(handle,font), required
'font' to be the Nth font loaded by vst_load_fonts.
The function vst_font(handle,font), will load the font whose
unique font id is 'font'. The function returns the actual font set as a
result of the command (ie. its font id).
One thing I neglected to mention in my earlier posting, if you
open more than one virtual workstation a program - if for instance, you
open up a virtual workstation for every window in your application, then
you must call vst_load_fonts(handle,0) for each one in order to access
your GDOS fonts when drawing in that virtual workstation. If the fonts
are already loaded for another virtual workstation, the function will
not load them again. The purpose of the call seems to be a matter of
GEM housekeeping.

The original 520ST was released to Howard Sam's ComputerFacts.
You can often find these in libraries -- as I did.
However, later versions of the 520ST and none of the 1040's and
Mega's have Sam's for them. I guess Atari decided to keep it
all secret. Still, except for blitters, etc, the general chip
set is the same (I presume) so the 520ST schematics might be
a good starting off point for other versions.

Is there any way to parse filenames that are used in Gulaam shell
scripts? I am trying to convert a whole bunch of dBMAN file from
their PRG extension on XENIX to CMD.
I want to end up with filename-ext.
