I believe Zoo supports ARGV, which is the officially supported
extended argument standard. The README.ST file said it supports
"xARGV" (whatever that means) "as supported by CRAFT/GPshell,
gulam, msh..." Gulam and msh definitely support ARGV.
You should too!

Judging from what I know about the Arc 6.02 port, it wouldn't
help much to have the sources. The individual who ported it
is a speed freak, and probably hacked up a lot of it in assembler.
If not, I congratulate him for learning the beauty of portability :)

Question: Is there a public domain port of any software synthesis
packages: cmusic, Csound, CARL Toolkit, Cmix ... for the ST?

If the ports aren't PD, how do the distributors handle the copyright
portion as UCSD & MIT and Princeton own the stuff?

Is there a decent soundfile system for the ST? At what price?
ADC's or just DACS? Variable Sampling Rate?

Thanks,
Clark

The original version of Sozobon and the intermediate release of v 1.2

Some weeks ago the author of Gulam, Prabhaker Mateti
(pmateti@cs.wright.edu), told all listeners of this newsgroup
that he is working on a new Gulam version. However, he is not
working with the ST as often as before so it may well take some
time until it is ready. (Yes, I am also waiting for the new
version.)

I have not been able to get this to work either, neither on a Mega with
TOS 1.2 nor on a 1040 with TOS 1.0. ( I tried both colour and monochrome
monitors if this makes a difference. ) The Makeicon.prg worked fine.

There is a version on panarthea ( if memory serves me right ) which is
supposed to be a version specifically for TOS 1.0 ROMs. However it was not
uuencoded with Dumas uue and seems to have suffered some damage on its way
to me, ( the icons displayed by makeicon are screwed up ).

So if anyone got icone working with TOS 1.0 could they please uuencode
it with Dumas uue and repost it to comp.binaries.atari.st.

Thanks in advance,

Padraig.

Very easy... I bought a cable from One Stop computers in Champaign IL

There is a ( new ? ) newsgroup comp.sys.atari.pc, it's not very
active at the moment, but it never will be if people like yourself don't
post queries to it ! If you feel that not many people are reading it at
the moment then you can cross-post to comp.sys.atari.st and maybe to
comp.sys.ibm.pc

Hello,

I wanted to get some files from the archives at panarthea and realized, that
they
are all uuencoded and arc'd. We don't have arc/unarc on our system and I don't
have a version for the atari either.
Can somebody please mail me a copy of the source code of arc/unarc and zoo,
which
is running under Unix preferably on a Sun4 running SunOS4.03 and which is not
compressed using arc or zoo. Or if it is available via a mail server please give
me a hint, from where it is available (Note: we don't have ftp access to the
internet, only mail).

Please mail any replys directly to me, since I'm not following this list
regularly.

Thanks a lot for any help

Matthias Ernst

I can't dictate what techniques you use, and I can't repudiate existing
documentation: we've guaranteed that Pexec will always start the new
process at IPL 0, and therefore you are likely to get an Hblank
interrupt between the RTE from GEMDOS and the first instruction of the
new program.

How you use this is up to you, but I warn you: the lure of the Dark
Side is powerful, and once you start down that dark path the forces of
Evil will claim your soul.

Yes, Fdup / Fforce will gag when you get too deep, but Hblank is not
the answer. If you want to link programs with temporary files, great!
Add command-line options to each program in the chain which say, "Use
this file for input, that one for output." I had hoped that J.Bammi
could win you over to this point of view.
