A few weeks ago, someone requested a list of FTP sites with Atari
files.
This is my list of sites accepting anonymous ftp (user name = anonymous,
password = <your login name>) and which include Atari files.
The complete FTP list is posted to comp.misc and comp.sources.wanted
on Usenet and is available for anonymous FTP from ssyx.ucsc.edu.

REMINDER: Anonymous FTP is a privilege, not a right. The site administrators
for the sites listed below have made their systems available out of the good-
ness of their hearts. Please respect their wishes and restrict your FTPing
to non-prime hours (1900 - 0600 hours local time for the site). This is
especially true for sites not in your country. Please keep that in mind when
you are FTPing. None of us want to see sites start to close down because a
few are being inconsiderate.

About a week after I received the 1/2 off coupon for pc-ditto II,
I sent it in, and I still haven't (MANY MONTHS later) received it yet!

Well, I needed it for last semester, and don't anymore.
It was read that they are changing the software to yield a 4.0 Norton
rating to make it more competitive with the other emulators. But now
it doesn't matter to me, and I want money for it!

I was wondering if it made sense for me to sell someone my place in
line for it. Cause if someone out there wanted it, not only will they
be placed at the end of the line, but they will have to pay the
FULL $300 price...

I don't want pc-ditto II, I want cash!

The POOLFIX2.PRG writes to my Screen (you have to read very fast):

This GEMDOS needs the pool patch, but
this program doesn't recognize this TOS

I have ROM TOS 1.4 from my local (german) ATARI dealer.

Subject: questions on GDos and the Okimate 20, meg upgrade, and the Break key

I HAVE THREE PROBLEMS. FIRSTLY, I HAVE WORDUP BUT HAVE NO PRINTER DRIVER FOR
GDOS FOR MY PRINTER, AN OKIMATE 20. I CAN USE A EIGHT PIN DRIVER BUT IT
PRINTS OVER TWICE TO MAKE THE GRAPHICS. THE TEXT LOOKS BAD, BLOTCHY FOR SOME
REASON AND PLUS THE RIBBON FOR MY PRINTER IS EXPENSIVE FOR AS LITTLE TEXT I
CAN PRINT ON IT. IS THERE A GDOS DRIVER FOR MY PRINTER? I'D GET A NEW
PRINTER IF I COULD AFFORD IT.

SECONDLY, I RESENTLY ATTEMPTED TO UPGRADE MY COMPUTER TO 1 MEG. IT FAILED.
I'VE CHECKED ALL THE CONNECTIONS AND THEY SEEM FINE. I WAS WONDERING IF THERE
WERE A WAY TO CHECK THE RAM CHIPS IN CIRCUIT. I'VE PIGGY BACKED THE CHIPS ON
MY 520 ST WITHOUT SOCKETS (VERY SILLY). I'D BE VERY HAPPY IF I WOULDN'T HAVE
TO UNSOLDER THEM. WILL BAD RAM REGESTER OR JUST APPEAR NOT TO BE THERE?
I HAVE GOOD REASON TO BELIEVE SOME OF THE CHIPS MAY BE BAD; THEY WERE SHIPPED IN
A BOX FULL OF STYROFOAM. ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

LASTLY, I HAVE A VERY BOTHERSOME PROBLEM. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO HARDWIRE MY ST
TO MY SCHOOL'S VAX. THAT WAS SUCCESSFUL (I THINK) BUT THE COMPUTER TAKES A
[BREAK] TO LOGON. I HOOKED UP MY ROOMMATE'S IBM PC FINE AND IT WORKS BUT I
DON'T HAVE A BREAK KEY! WHAT KEY COULD I PRESS TO BE EQUVALENT TO THE [BREAK]
ON A PC? I'VE TRIED THE LONG AND SHORT BREAKS ON UNITERM BUT THEY DID NOT WORK.
WHAT CAN I DO?

IF YOU CAN HELP PLEASE SEND HELP TO JOHNMAR@IITVAX.
THANX,
MARK W. JOHNSON

Without entering a slagging off session I must agree with what has been
said about the british publication "ST Format" It has recently reviewed two
ST progs with which I am reasonably familiar "Fleet St Publisher 3.0" and
"Music DTP" by Take Control. Neither of these reviews were very complimentary
and this would be O.K. if they deserved it however they do not. I must add
at this point that I am not just jumping to the defence of my favourite progs,
as I feel a great injustice has been done. It seems as if the reviewers spent
10 minuites with the programs not the days they deserve. In fact in the case of
"Music DTP" they clearly did not understand the concept of the program and
compared it with totally dissimilar ones.
Thus to those at the other side of the pond I request that if you judge
British magazines by any one single publication then let it be ST World. This
is a fine (but not totally flawless mag) but in comparison with the other
"comics" it is unbeatable.

p.s. dont bother buying it for games coverage though as there isn't any!

This can never be any more than a personal opinion but it is one I hold
with the deepest of conviction.

Any Flames (from ST Format probably)
