FORM is really neat. I have a complaint about the manual. First
of all, it is formatted in 6x7in format. When printed on 8.5x11in paper
a lot of paper goes to waste. This really annoyed me considering how essential
it is that we stop wasting natural resources. The PD version of the manual
is a TeX dvi file and most people would print that on letter sized paper,
so why couldn't the author have included '\vsize = 10in \hsize = 7.5in'
before he TeXed it so we don't waste paper. Also, the manual lacks
inclusive speech and inclusive speech is important as we attempt to include
women in our language (and ultimately as recognized members of society).
I realize this doen't really belong in this newsgroup, but the comments
are directly related to a product of this newgroup - since the computer
industry spawns documentation, we must strive for these ideals: conservation
of paper (in manuals, printouts, etc) and inclusive speech.

My spouse uses our ST to layout a section of a large-circulation
Canadian magazine. We use Calamus and a Lino imagesetter for the final
flats, but for proofs, we use the SLM804. 5 minutes for a page? What a
joke! Who the hell uses a laser printer and only prints out single pages?
We can print out a hundred pages in well under a half hour on the SLM804,
that would take more than an entire business day at 5 min/page.

For playing around, another laser might be fine. If your time is at all
important to you, buy an SLM804.

I have been trying to do the same thing : pi3 to ps.
my postscript looks something like this:-
%!

%%BoundingBox: 20 20 350 220

?currentfile picstr readhexstring pop?

Unfortunatly this does not seem to work properly.
Perhaps someone else could enlighten me ?

I made a quick-and-dirty translation in English of that article of the
new registers in the STE - want it, then e-mail me with some suitable
bribe.
If you insist, you could even get it in Swedish.

Well I guess you folks knew I wouldn't let this go by without comment ...

Yeah! That's sounds like regular 'screw them stoopid' Atari UK policy.
These ROMS will probably be for general distribution but why do I not have a
it (even on EPROM) now. We ARE registered Developers!

My usual Atari UK telephone experience (if I get an answer)

Atari: "Hello Atareee!"
Irate Developer: "I'd like to speak to Bob Katz please"
Atari: "Hold on pleeez" Click
Silence, More Silence
Atari: "Who are you hold for?"
Irate Developer: "BOB KATZ"
Atari: "Hold on puleez" Click "I'm sorry he's in a meeting" (Like everyday!)
"Can I take a message"

At this point you can either say NO (But she'll hang up before you finish the
word) or YES and leave a message that will be ignored or she'll forget before
it hits the paper.

Do you remember the joke about Apple employees changing a lightbulb?

How many Atari UK employees does it take to change a lightbulb?
Who cares as long as they change it soon! :-) NFSU

Agreed! Thru these silent years they have been the only support I have seen and
long may they continue to do so.

After 8 weeks of trying, it appears as though I will get a working
copy of Mirrorsoft's "TV Sports Football" for the ST. I have a 520
STFM (with a 0.5 Meg internal drive) and the original release of the
game simply will not run on it.

After being told on numerous occasions by distributors and local
stores that Mirrorsoft would not acknowledge the problem, I decided
to talk to them directly. They told me that the problem was
recognised and that a revised version would be sent as soon as I
returned my copy.

Therefore if anyone's bought, or is about to buy, this product,
please take note.
