This requires special software on the Amiga (I don't know the name of it) and
special hardware on the ST (Discovery Cartridge).

Subject: AtariST color monitor on PC?

The Atari ST has a fairly decent color monitor (for its price), and
resembles CGA in its resolution (640x200x16 colors). Is this monitor
electrically compatible with CGA? If any netlanders have tried it I'd
be curious to find out what you need... I have both machines, with
monochrome on the clone and color on the ST, but occasionally would
like color on the clone. Thanks,

When the ST puts up those cute little cherry bombs, it also writes out the
error number and register dump (and I think part of the stack) to an area in
memory which can survive a reset. There is a program in the archives called
POSTMORT which will access this memory, tell you in English what the errors
were, display the registers, etc. It also comes with a set of short binaries
to generate most of the errors.

If this is the same monitor which was being sold under the Commodore
nameplate as the 1084 for a while, it is junk. Ask any 1084 owner
(like me). Commodore eventually dropped Magnavox as their manufacturer
and went back to whoever made their original Amiga monitors (Phillips, maybe?).
It does make a great video monitor though...

My 680x0 assembler is a little rusty, but I'll give it a shot anyway...
The pound sign moves immediate data into a register. If you're trying to
put the address of init into A0, the command would be 'move.l init, A0'.
If you want to move the contents of the location pointed to by init, then
you'd do a 'move.l (init), A0'. I think that's right.
So the only reason your line doesn't work is that it (the compiler) is
expecting immediate data (a number) where you have a symbol.

Hmmmm. A question for the closet legal-eagles among us: What becomes of
copyrighted software published by a magazine which goes belly-up? If ST-Log
is dead, does that do anything at all to the distribution restrictions placed
on their software (assuming there were any restrictions - never did buy an
ST-Log w/disk)? Alternatively, I wonder if the people at ST-Log (or Flynt
Publishers) would/could allow the software (such as the above screen saver)
to be released here? Anyone who keeps in touch with Lee Pappas wanna ask?
