My favourite wordprocessor, 1ST Word (yes, 1ST Word!), has this little thing
that makes me want to grind my ST to a lot of little pieces sometimes.
I know it has something to do with the famous 'Phantom Typist'.
Sometimes, it falls into a complete coma and only the reset button will help.

I tried solving this by writing a little program that saves the current
WordPlus document after pressing ALT-HELP-SHIFT or something. It searches
memory for a document and saves it. But this was a nice try since I couldn't
figure out the format of a WP document in memory.

I wonder, is there a program or accessory that does timed 1ST Word backups?
Since 1ST Word is the only thing that locks up, I think I just have to wait
until the next backup and reset.

Now I am looking for a program like this or the format of 1ST Word documents
in memory so I can write it myself. If there is a program, where can I get it?

what is the most prevelant (sp?) extended commandline protocol used
in the Atari world. what i'm trying to get at is if it would be worth
bothering to implement the Atari Extended GEMDOS Commandline Argument
Spec posted by Ken B. many months ago, or implement something more
along the lines of the Mark Williams spec, since i am assuming that
MUCH more software can understand the latter, although the former is now
the de-facto Atari supported standard. So which would be better to
implement??

if the Mark Williams spec is the better one to implement, then what exactly
is their spec. I know it's similar, but i need details ...

questions ... questions ... nothing but questions ...

Composite video is pin 2 and ground is pin 13, when you got the

modulator.

This problem was fixed quite a while ago.

I bought Laser C, and I have been using their resource construction
program, otherwise I would still be using K Resource.

The only thing that bothered me about K Resource was the
manual...while reading it, you got the feeling it was written
by some smug high school kid. It was not only unprofessional,
but a little nausiating as the author bent over backwards to
pat himself on the back...

It *is* a good program, though....

Subject: Tech: changing resolutions without using desktop
Message-ID: <18914@eagle.wesleyan.edu>

Hi...I have a technical question regarding switching resolutions on
the ST. I'm trying to write a program to launch an application in low
resolution from Gulam when I was in medium resoultion. I am using
Setscreen, which seems to do half of what I need. But when I launch
the application (or exit to the desktop) Gem still thinks I'm in
medium rez so the windows are all in the wrong places and the mouse
wraps off the right-hand side of the screen. How can I get around
this? I assume there must be some way of notifying Gem that the
resolution has changed and I suspect it has to do with changing the
clipping boundaries.

Also, is there any way to locate the current palates for low and
medium resolution in memory, or do I have to read them from
Desktop.inf? If so, how do I find out where desktop.inf should be?

I'd look it up but I can't afford the developer's docs. Any
information or code examples would be appreciated.
