New Tomb discovered in Luxux
The first sarcophagus found in the tomb.
Egyptian authorities reveals that yesterday a well-preserved and about 3,000 years old tomb was found. The tomb contains decorative sarcophagi with the mummified remains of a priest and his wife and about thousand different statuettes.
Archaeologists removing the cover of the ancient Egyptian sarcophagus. They use small pieces of wood to separate the cover. From the previous picture, it seems the junction between the two parts was perfectly painted.
A carved black wooden sarcophagus inlaid with gilded sheets, dating to Egypt's Late period (7th-4th century BC), lying in a burial chamber decorated with colored scenes was also found.
