Monkey Island 4 - PAL RIP tutorial
You can use this tutorial ONLY if you have THE ORIGINAL DVD, and ONLY to make A SAFE AND PERSONAL BACKUP COPY.

ATTENTION: Tested with PS2 PAL 30004 NEO2 and AR 1.31 e 1.4
1) Copy the entire DVD in your Hard Disk. Put it in a temporary folder (Use C:\1 so you can use my .ccz file)
2) Expand all the contents of this zip in the same dir...
ATTENTION: you can choice what you want to rip out... Here you find what i rip out from my version, but you can decide to rip the music and keep some movies...
3) Replace all the movies with empty movies.... (download one working short empty movie from my website...)
4) Replace the MUSIC1.M4B file with dummy files (1MB) (i think that is the music for the first part of the game).
5) Fill with 0 (binary) the references for MUSIC1.M4B file from the SLES file...
NOTE: my SLES is SLES_502.28, can be that your version is different in name, BUT NOT in contents!
i.e. for fill with 0s...
If you find

(if you want replace also the MUSIC2.M4B in your version and keep some movies, be sure to fill with 0s also the references of this file....)
Offsets to fill with 0s are:
MUSIC1.M4B ----> 001270F0
MUSIC2.M4B ----> 00127158
6) Now edit the SLES_502.77 file (delete the READ ONLY attributes) with the Hex WorkShop or similar.
(PAL VERSION!)
Go to (CTRL+G) the 0000010C offset and you find a value (02), replace with (01).
Go to (CTRL+G) the 0000016C offset and you find a value (02), replace with (01).
Go to (CTRL+G) the 0001FAA4 offset and you find a value (02), replace with (01).
Save your work and exit.
6) Now the boring part: you must rebuild the same DVDís layout, with same file and dir order.
If you follow my examples, you can use my MONKEY4.CCZ file, if not:
Launch your CD/DVD Generator and starts a new CD-ROM project.
- In the VOLUME tab put the DISC NAME SLES-50228 (or your number!) and in the VOLUME ESCAPE_FROM_MONKEY_ISLAND.
- Go in the DIRECTORY tab and start to insert the directory in the same order of the original DVD layout. (DVD.TXT included)
- Now in the LAYOUT tab: verify the exact file and dir order.
- Now export your .IML file (MONK1.iml) (Save it in the same dir. where you put all the files of the DVD!)
7) From the dir where you copy all the DVD, launch my REMAP.EXE.... This little program rebuild the EFMI.CD file (that is the LBA TABLE for this game...) in the EFMI.XX file.
So you can see that isnt important what you cut or replace of this game, because my remap can rebuild the TABLE following the MONK1.IML file.
7) Launch IML2ISO as here: IML2ISO MONK1.iml MONK1.iso.
Wait...
8) Now burn with CDRWIN
- Choose FILE BACKUP TOOLS
- RECORD AN ISO9660 IMAGE FILE
- Select ISO FILE: MONK1.iso
- Set Disc type CDROM-XA and Track Mode MODE2
- Press Start.
9) Use your swap method (NEO2)

Il seguente tutorial e' stato creato da Zandal. Il suo unico scopo e' quello di permettere ai possessori di ESCAPE FROM MONKEY ISLAND originale in DVD di creare la propria copia di backup. In alternativa puo' essere utilizzato a scopo di studio, impegnandosi a distruggere eventuali copie create da un DVD non regolarmente posseduto. Non sono consentiti utilizzi che violino in alcun modo la legge.

Questi 2 file ritengo siano pressoche' inutili, per il motivo che dipendono dai file che avete rippato o rimpicciolito, infatti ben + importante e' il seguente:

DVD.TXT

PS2 PAL 30004
NEO2
AR 1.31 e 1.4 DVD REGION X
Non dovrebbe comunque dare problemi con altre AR2 o PS2.
1) Copiare tutto il DVD sull'Hard Disk in una cartella temporanea (Es. c:\1)
2) Spaccare nella stessa dir questo zip.
ATTENZIONE: le seguenti sostituzioni sono A VOSTRA SCELTA, ovvero io vi scrivo quello che ho rimpiazziato, ma nulla vi vieta di rinunciare alla musica e tenere i filmati o viceversa...
3) Rimpiazzare i filmati con un filmato breve (ovvero tenere gli STESSI NOMI degli originali) .... (lo trovate nel mio sito, e' uno nuovo da 300KB)...
4) Rimpiazzare il file MUSIC1.M4B (penso sia la musica della prima parte) con un Dummy file (un dummy file e' un file vuoto da 1Mb in questo caso)....
5) Eliminare dall'ELF (file SLES_502.28) i referimenti al file MUSIC1.M4B riempiendo i byte di 0 binari:

(se decidete di eliminare anche il file MUSIC2.M4B fate lo stesso per il riferimento a tale file....
Gli offset dei riferimenti sono i seguenti:
MUSIC1.M4B ----> 001270F0
MUSIC2.M4B ----> 00127158
6) Ora modifichiamo il file SCES_502.28 (togliere l'attributo di sola lettura) con il programma Hex WorkShop o un equivalente editor binario di files. Aprire il file con il suddetto programma:
Cercate l'offset (CTRL+G) 0000010C, qui troverete un 02, cambiatelo in 01.
Cercate l'offset (CTRL+G) 0000016C, qui troverete un 02, cambiatelo in 01.
Cercate l'offset (CTRL+G) 0001FAA4, qui troverete un 02, cambiatelo in 01.
Salvate il lavoro ed uscite.
7) Ora passiamo alla parte piu' noiosa: dovete ricostruire il layout del DVD, mantenendo lo stesso ordine dei file e delle dir presente nel DVD. (DVD.TXT)
Consiglio di utilizzare il file MONKEY4.CZZ che ho incluso nello zip.
Altrimenti:
Lanciate CD/DVD Generator e cominciate un nuovo progetto CD-ROM
- Sul tab VOLUME inserite nel DISC NAME SCES-50228 e nel VOLUME ESCAPE_FROM_MONKEY_ISLAND.
- Posizionatevi adesso sul tab DIRECTORY e cominciate a inserire le directory seguendo l'ordine originale.
- Ora esportate il file .IML. (MONK1.IML) (salvatelo nella stessa directory dove avete copiato il DVD, nel ns caso (C:\1)
8) Lanciate ora il programma REMAP.EXE, questo programma utilizza il file .iml per ricostruire il file EFMI.CD che contiene la LBA TABLE di Monkey4....
Dopo pochi istanti avrete un file EFMI.XX da copiare al posto dell'originale EFMI.CD....
Con il REMAP quindi non importa cosa avete tolto o accorciato, perche' l'EFMI.CD verra' modificato di conseguenza....
8) Lanciate il programma IML2ISO con la seguente sintassi: IML2ISO MONK1.iml MONK1.iso Questa operazione potrebbe durare vari minuti!
7) Ottenuto il file .ISO lo mastererizzate con il CDRWIN:
- Scegliere FILE BACKUP TOOLS
- RECORD AN ISO9660 IMAGE FILE
- Selezionate il vs. File MONK1.iso
- SETTATE Disc type CDROM-XA e Track Mode MODE2
- Premere Start.
