PSX controller surface mount fuses
So your controllers don't work anymore
The bus that is used for the Sony Playstation controllers and the memory cards has a 750mA surface mount fuse on its VCC line. If you have shorted VCC to GND or tried to beef up the motors in your dual shock controller you may find that no controllers will work in your PSX anymore. The solution to this problem is to replace the fuse or to solder two wires to the blown fuse and attach a standard glass fuse to the other end. In either case here are some pictures to help you find it.
SCPH-550X
The fuse is the component in the middle right of the screen marked PS605 (with 0.7A written on top in this unit however this may be vary in your unit). The connector CN102 is the ribbon that goes to the controllers and CN602 is the power connector from the PSU board.
You can see the two black wires I have added. These go to a glass fuse I have mounted in the top of the case near the CD mechanism.
SCPH-100X
Again in the 100x series Playstation the fuse is marked PS605. It is the component in the dead center of the picture (with 15 written on it in this machine). The connector CN602 is the power supply connector and the other connector in the top right goes to the CD mechanism.
SCPH-700X
Again in the 700x series Playstation the fuse is marked PS605. It is the component just below the electrolytic capacitor in the center of the picture (with 15 written on it in this machine). The connector CN602 is the power supply connector.
