Here begins a presentation of most common aquarium plants. We do not pretend to compose a database as you can easily find many complete on Internet. This is a small list to be consulted if necessary.
Aponogeton crispus
Height: over 50 cm
Water temperature: from 23 °C to 27 °C
Origin: Sri Lanka
Position in the aquarium: Very robust bulb plant ideal for the aquarium background or for the central part.
Alternanthera lilacina
Height: over 50 cm
Water temperature: from 15 °C to 27 °C
Origin: Brazil
Position in the aquarium: In the central part, in the middle of lower green plants, it is beautiful.
Anubias nana
Height: 15 cm
Water temperature: from 18 °C to 30 °C
Origin: West Africa
Position in the aquarium: Plant ideal for the foreground, because of its very slow growth and the height it reaches. Also ideal for goldfish, do not eat it!
Anubias barteri
Height: 25-30 cm
Water temperature: from 18 °C to 30 °C
Origin: West Africa
Position in the aquarium: Robust as Anubias nana, but to be inserted into the central part of the aquarium.
Bacopa monieri
Height: over 50 cm
Water temperature: from 10 °C to 22 °C
Origin: North America
Position in the aquarium: Background plant that produces small white flowers.
Cabomba aquatica
Height: 40 cm
Water temperature: from 15 °C to 27 °C
Origin: Central America, Asia
Position in the aquarium: Perhaps one of the best known background plants, very fast growth, needs lot of light.
Cardamine lyrata
Height: 40-50 cm
Water temperature: from 18 °C to 22 °C
Origin: Japan, Korea.
Position in the aquarium: Beautiful background plant but very delicate, it requires a lot of light and not too hot water.
Ceratopteris cornuta
Height: 30-40 cm
Water temperature: from 18 °C to 26 °C
Origin: Japan, Korea.
Position in the aquarium: Plant to be inserted centrally, creates a safe area for small fry as well as becoming a beautiful "forest".
