World War II bomb found in Paderborn
A bomb from the World War II has been found in Paderborn. The British air bomb, that weighs about 1.8 tons and contains 1.5 tons of explosives, was found during construction work near the University of Paderborn and will be defused on April 8, 2018.
Extensive evacuations are necessary due to the size of the bomb and its explosive power. About twenty-six thousand people living within a 1.5 km radius are to be evacuated from their homes so the bomb can be defused.
The large bomb is about two meters long and has a diameter of 76 centimeters. The British air bomb has three manual head detonators that must be defused by experts.
I live in "Am Westerntor", exactly 1.5 km from the bomb, but I have not yet received any communication on evacuation.
