How to play imports on the sega Dreamcast
If you don't wanna buy a modchip there are a few ways to boot imports by using a swap disc.
- Utopia Boot CD
- DCHakker
- Gameshark CDX
- Action Replay CDX
- CodeBreaker
- DC-IE
- DC-X
- SUPER GAME CONVERTER/DCAC
Load the boot CD and switch in the import. It will automatically load the import.
Load DCHakker and swap in the import, rescan the disc, click "Config" in the bottom right corner, then open 1st_read.bin.
Load Gameshark or Action Replay, select "Start Game", then "Start game without codes", then switch in the import.
Load CodeBreaker, select "Start Game", then switch in the import.
This is a commercial product.
Load DC-X or DC-IE and follow the on-screen instructions.
These are commercial products made specifically for imports.
Place disc into the Dreamcast then turn the unit on, wait for a screen that tells you to take your disc out, then place your import disc in, if it's the first time using the game you will have an option of setting your tv to NTSC or PAL mode. (PAL mode does not work on all US Televisions and will tend to leave the screen black while the sound plays in the background.)
Additionally before you put your import disc in, by pressing any button on the controller you can open extra options, such as:
- Connection type (VGA Box, Cables ect.)
- Region (NTSC, PAL)
- Other various options
(To note that the company that makes this product states this will not boot CD-R Backups)
