Huawei knows that in order to be successful in the market, has to create an eco-system around HarmonyOS, the new Operating System. There will be no future for HarmonyOS if developers do not create Apps for it. Therefore, at the beginning of September 2019, Huawei released the framework for his ARK compiler, meant to allow developers to quickly port their Android Apps to HarmonyOS. Rumors: Huawei partnership with Geely
According to some rumors, a popular car manufacturer in China, Geely, has partnered with Huawei to expand the usage of HarmonyOS to the car segment. Huawei is not planning a HarmonyOS's phone

Huawei confirmed that at the moment, due to the lack of Apps for the new operating system, will continue to use in it's next smartphones the Google’s Android operating system rather than HarmonyOS. Huawei got an extension from US government for another three months, so will be allowed to install Android in it's devices until middle of November 2019. Mr. Yang thinks it is unlikely that Huawei would launch a HarmonyOS smartphone this year. However Huawei may release some devices powered by HarmonyOS in china in the next future, like for example smartwatches in addition to the Honor Vision TV previously announced.

Yesterday, at the first Huawei Developer Conference in Dongguan (HDC.2019), Huawei officially unveiled a new operating system called HarmonyOS. In China, the software will be known as HongmengOS. HarmonyOS, a microkernel-based distributed operating system can be used for everything, for smartphones, laptops, tablets, wearables, in vehicle systems, smart home devices. HarmonyOS will be made available later this year for deployment in smart screen products such as TV, smart watches and in-vehicle infotainment systems.
