Germans in Warsaw Before WWII the Polish capital had over one million residents, of which less than two thousand were of German origin. In 1934 a local NSDAP agency started operating at the German embassy in Warsaw. By that time the NSDAP had become the sole legal party in the Third Reich, fully subordinated to Hitler following the rule „one nation, one party, one Führer". The Nazis indoctrinated the Germans living in Warsaw, among others, through a monthly paper entitled „Idee und Wille", spreading Goebbels-style propaganda. The Germans living in Warsaw fully supported the occupying forces from the very beginning of war. Officials syste...

ST. MARY'S BASILICA IN KRAKOW
St. Mary's Basilica is a classic example of Gothic architecture in Poland. It was built between the end of the 13 th century and the beginning of the 15 th century, on the foundations of an earlier Romanesque church, which was erected in the early part of the 13 th century. It has a three aisle basilica-like body. The façade is framed by two characteristic towers: the bugle tower (81 m) and the bell tower (69 m). The famous bugle call is played every hour from the higher tower. ALTARS BY THE PILLARS By the pillars, separating the main nave from the side aisles, and in the side aisles themselves, there are Baroque altars founded in the...

Franciscan Monastery in Paderborn
The Franciscan Church in Paderborn was built between 1668 and 1671 and is dedicated to Saint Joseph. The church and monastery were destroyed in a bomb attack on March 27, 1945. Only the outer walls remained standing. The rich interior of the church burned down. The baroque cross - vaulted hall was later restored. The interior was initially very simple. It was not until the 1950s that a baroque statue of the Jesus Mother and a statue of St. Anthony by the Munich artist Hermann Rösner were placed where the side altars used to be. During the penultimate renovation in 1985/1986, an attempt was made to re-paint the church and add more scul...
